Good result for him. Will be interesting to see how his other races go this year.

Just curious if the people who come on here and reflexively make drug comments whenever an athlete like Geb or Lagat or Farah or Rupp gets mentioned actually like anything about the sport? If the only thing that matters about these athletes is doping, why bother?

Does anyone know a better coach/athlete pair, that has had better results over this long of time?
Meb and Larsen have been together equally long with equally good results.
Deena was with Vigil almost as long, until Vigil semi-retired.
Seems like the big talents who stick with a coach that recognizes what works for them have the longest, most consistently successful careers.
Yes, and it was windy today, endless 1,5-2% incline up and down
Coe was trained by his Dad for 32 years.

Where was the race? Has Lagat been to the homeland lately to conduct doping sessions out of reach of testers? lol
LOL, NOP labs test their "athletes" in advance of testing. If in-house lab results are not perfect then NOP pulls everyone out of scheduled meets.
yawn
he ran 13:06 less than a year ago, and 7:48 last winter. Why wouldn't he run 27:50?

I thought the same thing when I read the title.
At what distance would a race seem competitive between Lagat and Meb? 13.1?
I love that guy
Great role model
Keep it up

The other thing to note with James Li is that he typically does a poor job with non-Africans. Like he and Cal trade for last place at PAC12 XC every year.

Komon was way off his 26:44 from a few years ago!!!!!!!!!
Right?
For the last few years Komon has been probably the best road runner in the world in the 10k-10mile pocket, but got dropped and finished way back this time. It will be interesting to see if he racks up his usual string of wins this season.

You're right. Cuddling entitled and spoiled brats is not Mr. Li's specialty.

That would be a interesting theory in light of NOP's pull out of Peyton Jordan, if there had been drug testing at Peyton Jordan, but since there wasn't, well, you can figure out the rest.
A Talent like Lagat is remarkable enough nut add one of the best coaches on the planet !!! WOW
And Coach Li is hands down the most patient selfless coach I have ever met !
They are the right combo , a model for how it should be done !
