Seems like just yesterday he was at the top of the American distance running heap, and now he's dropped off the face of the earth?
Anybody know what the deal with him is?

check the global athletics site, under the adidas boston invite, there's an undated interview in the spotlight section.
Yeah, because a guy who's primary emphasis is the track really should be racing a ton between September and February.
Some of you people are worse than crack addicts.
i believe its known as "getting a base"

It was just yesterday. Now he's training so that he'll race well this spring... during TRACK season.
I am assuming that you are not THE Peter Buniak. Wonder how many people on here know who he was. Another message board today had someone going nuts about some guy named "Shultz" (Bob Schul) who won the 5000 in Tokyo - the writer had never heard of him. The same guy also had Bill Dellinger winning an Olympic medal sometime in the 1950's (he needs to find that '64 tape of the 5000 and watch the last lap a few times). Anyway, I'm sure that my comments will open me up for a bunch of hits. As for Broe, didn't he break a bone in his foot last summer? That might explain why he has been quiet for a bit. Let's give him about 8 weeks and see what he's up to.................
He didn't exactly "fall off the face of the earth." He was running really well last year in indoors and in the spring. I believe he got hurt earlier in the summer and had kind of run into a slump besides. Called it a season so he can regroup. The word is that he is sick of running the steeple. Although, it is the injury, not unhappiness with what he has been racing, that caused him to stop racing last summer.
I expect that he will be back in full force. A lot of people are coming down on him saying that he is running too many different types of races and needs to focus on one for himself. To this, I respond...Paula Radcliffe. Geb also is planning on mixing it up some more. A marathon last spring, 10k road race a month ago, and planning on some shorter races indoors. If anything, I think Broe should continue mixing it up at different distances.
Hey Jerome, where are you, getting a base? Haven't heard from you since you bitched about the lack of official water stops at Boston in 1977.

The question should be, what the hell is going on in Ann Arber?
All 4 studs (Sullivan, Broe, Brannan and the Webbster) went down with significant injuries last year. Can't just be coincidence. Maybe they've gotten caught up in all those "michigan" workouts. Or too much golf.
peter buniak = jerome drayton = the man
Kitty - outstanding! Do you remember why (supposedly) he picked those new names? As people have said with Broe, give him (and the other guys from AA) a few more weeks and see if they don't start cranking out some times. If someone is going to make the jump from good to great it takes a little bit of walking on the razor's edge - sometimes you get nicked - but, if you get through it, there is a big payoff. Give the guys until March.

Sullivan posted on here that he took a stumble in an indoor race in Europe and fracture a bone in his back, that hampered his outdoor season.
Broe broke his foot before USATF meet doing steeple drills or something like that. Before that set indoor american indoor 3k record, 7:39, won USATF 3k indoor champs, won the USATF 8k road champs, won the USATF 4k XC champs.
Brennan had a PR in the NCAA 800 final of 1:46 and was a NCAA All American. Also ran in the NCAA Indoor mile. Had some injury between indoor and outdoor.
Webb ran 3:41 and was an NCAA All American. Had an injury during indoor.
What the hell is up with Radcliffe? You set a marathon record in October but you haven't done squat since?
What about you, Viren? And I haven't forgotten about you Paavo Nurmi! You losers are still trying to ride that Olympic glory. Freakin' sack up and run some indoors this season you losers!

Sully moved away from Ann ARBOR with they wifey, Broe is there taking over the assistant coach job Sully left. Brannen is running well, ran a 30:20 10k at xc nats, became all-american in xc, and Webster moved back to VA to train under his high school coach.
There. That's what's going on in Ann Arbor. Got that?
i don't think brannen was all-american in outdoor track or xc, they usually leave that classification for the americans (he's canadian, remember)
Yeah he's Canadian, but I believe they still get the certificate saying "all-american" even though they aren't american. Its really more of a status symbol in collegiate running rather than a nationality based award. They don't count foreigners in the total amount of awards given out though. E.G. if top 30 is 1st team AA, and Brannen was 20th, some dude who finished 31st will be AA as well (as long as he's american.)
In distance running more so than any other sprot you have to be careful planning your training and racing with the goal of peaking at the right time. You can not dominate 365 days a year like Toger Woods does in golf. My guess is that Broe is basebuilding and setting up a schedule that will have him peak for the trials and later the Olympic finals in whatever event he chooses.
Harry JEROME, a Canadian, had the world best at 100 sprint.
yep. and drayton?
At some point I remember hearing that Peter Buniak borrowed from Harry Jerome and Paul Drayton to come up w/his new moniker. Not long ago think I read from JD/PB hisself that, no, that story was wrong but don't remember the details. Like a rose is a rose by any name, JD/PB could haul some butt and looked cool behind those shades.
