Like I said, my guess would probably be way off, I have no idea.
What do you think he could run with 4 months to train for it?
What do you think he could run within the week?

he's run 4.05.50 in the past, so if he's still got the engine, thats possible. Sub 4 is another issue.
He ran about 4:00 in highschool, didn't he?
That's what I'm saying, it's so hard to say
With a solid block of mile training i'd say 4:03
This week probably 4:09

I think you're being too generous for what he could run as of now. The last time he ran a mile, he finished in 4:17 on the roads (13th place). That was 2011 when he was actually still good at the marathon.
This week, assuming he's healthy, I give him 4:17.
If he had 4-months to train for it, that's a big difference. Then I think he could get back down to 4:10 or under, but 4:03 is probably overly optimistic as he'd be approaching PR territory. More likely 4:05-4:10.
Yes I believe he ran 4:01 (maybe for 1600m?) in hs.

I think he'd at least make it to 1200m.
His talent is a lot bigger than most of us realize, I'd guess. He ran 3:42 in high school. If someone could hypothetically get him to train properly, I would expect sub-4 in a year
I'd ssay 4:19. 4:10 with a few months of wuicker workouts. Hhis mind and body are stuck in marathon pace.
Speaking of which, is he still being coached by God?
WHO CARES

He's America's best hope in the marathon! Go Ryan he could def run 3:55 if he stopped believing in God crap.

Someone who can´t spell "loser" is certainly one...
He'd probably quit at 1500m.

Yeah but he'd run 3:37 so it'd be converted to sub 4. He'd prolly run it at altitude.
In his interview on Marathon Talk several years ago they asked him what he could run for a mile with 6 months of specific training and Ryan said he thought he could run a 3:55. I think that was around 2009 or 2010
Probably around 4:30 if he went to the track today after reading this. I doubt he could go much faster. Doesn't seem like he incorporates any running faster than marathon pace so 4:30 would feel pretty hard. Even Farrah was doing sets of 30 secon 200s after runs.

He had years of mile training at Stanford. Never close to 3:55 or the equivalent. Sure, he was stronger in 2009-10. But still.
He would eat a Muscle Milk pancake and then crush a 3:59.

He ran 4:00 in highschool.
He did not have years of mile training at Stanford. He was injured his first two years then switched to the 5000 for the remainder of college.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
