I am thinking so. I asked what wave he was assigned and it was Wave 2 Blue. But I don't think he is running. His tweets last nite were from PA.

from philly to NYC it's a short-ish drive. he could leave at 4am and get there in time. I would do that and avoid hotel/transport costs. mike is not rich, we know that. his trip to boston burnt the family savings.

He is no longer listed on the tracking app. I just checked two others that I know did not pick up their bib and they were dropped as well.

That would only be possible if you can get your bib today

true. oh well, it was fun following mike's incredible career.

We can all just forget about him now until that day when someone's looking at their Via marathon photos and realises that there's a guy cutting back onto the course in the background :)
It would be very interesting to know the whole story in detail. I believe the truth is there, we just can't access it such as the complete starting line videos.

I think the truth (about Via) would be rather mundane, he skipped off the course at the first appropriate place, drove to somewhere near the finish, waited, doused himself with a relatively small amount of water then re-entered the course at a suitable spot with trees or toilets.
The interesting thing about the Litton thread was that even people who weren\'t trolls or Litton trying to derail things seemed to want very complex explanations to quite simple issues. The whole key is having the luck or judgement to not get spotted by an alert, knowledgeable witness who would figure out what you are up to.

Me too but we're never going to get the story from him so we might as well just make up our own version. In mine he starts of with good intentions (fueled by his hero complex about running Boston). He does some races, is fastish but doesn't know enough about running to realise that you can't apply a 5k pace to running a marathon. He foolish starts to believe he can get a Boston qualifier and it becomes his whole purpose in life. Then, he runs a race, maybe after Philly marathon, someone explains running to him and he realises that he was nowhere near a BQ. Then he starts look for BQ races with no mats or that are easy to cheat at (Which is why he joins Disney running groups). He finds Via, figures out it's easier to get a BQ there with a car and good use of the relay points. The rest is history and he most likely would have got away with it if he'd gone for a time clser the the BQ and didn't write an obnoxious letter that he shared 50 billion times.
Any one else want to give their version?
Yes, but it would be interesting to know other details. Did he wait for everyone else to start, then double back to the starting line parking lot? Or did he run a bit, fake an injury, step off, and get picked up? Did he have a ride or drive himself? Did he scout the course the week before, figuring out exactly where he'd have tree cover?
It appears that Rossi isn't running. Our employee is happy. We told him that if Rossi finished under 3:11 we'd be firing him immedaitely.

I agree that it would be fun to hear the full story.
I know if I decided to cheat, I would not involve anyone else. Out of pure embarrassment -- my friends or family would be appalled at the idea.

But maybe not some Uber driver you don't know at all.
LOL Mike!!!!!! We know you are in Pennsylvania, not NYC!!!!!!! SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP!!!!!!!!!
I'm excited for Rossi's upcoming book:
"If I Did It..."
Detailing how he "hypothetically" would have cheated at LVM.
Just as expected. You ran the same distance you did at Lehigh. 0.0
Not to put too fine a point on it, but isn't a 0:00:00.0 somewhat faster than a 3:11:45?

Ha! Tricked you! I ran a different marathon under a coat name, so the trolls couldn't jump at me.
Unfortunately I faded at the end, although I like ramped up my mileage by like 20%!! So it was only an embarasing 3:23. Still on the money thoguh.
Can you please send me cash instead of a check? To my secret adress, so the neighbors like don't see it. Email me for details, ok?
