Why ever run again ? wrote:
If I were Mike I wouldn't run in any organized race again . What's to be gained or lost if he doesn't care what anyone here thinks . It'd be a lot easier to say , my injuries have forced me to stop running and pursue a less intense activity . We all know for a fact he can't meet any of the challenges set here even if he was healthy , he isn't a seasoned experienced runner so why continue the deception any longer , he will only end up validating all of our accusations that he cheated VIA , so instead the easy way out is to quit running all together using the injury excuse , we will all say BS , but to his minions and supporters they will all buy it because they don't know anything about the sport . Seems like the smartest way out to me .
I agree. I think there are three outcomes from this debacle.
1) Mike Rossi will be drummed out of the sport. He'll cite injuries and never run a race again. If he does it will be a local 5k but not anything of note.
2) Races like LVHN will review their anti-cheating protocols and will add mats, video, better volunteer training, photo review, etc., where needed.
3) The next race director faced with a similar, obvious, decision like this will DQ the runner and risk their wrath rather than the Lets Run onslaught. There is no way this has played out well for the LVHN or for Yasso and McKeever (reputations, meet toilet).
