This thread hasn't gone anywhere lately because there isn't anymore. He cheated, but it was probably "once in a lifetime". At least at this level of cheating.
If Mike is smart he just lies low until the storm has passed. OTOH he has yet to prove that he is smart.

This thread has wore me out and made me realize what a shitty shitty world we live in. Catch a cheater, sure, redemption for the principal then even better but taking it to the depths that we're taking it makes me ill. I promise every one of you sanctimonious turds the principal doesn't want this for Rossi because she's better than this. There are many here that are every bit as self absorbed as Mike Rossi, I see it on your FB page. Going after Rossi with this mob mentality with a far worse penalty than people who actually commit a crime.

I've lived a long enough life to encounter all sorts of people, good and bad, and I can almost guarantee this isn't the first time this tool's done something dishonest. Maybe it's the first time he's cheated at a race, but a 47 year old man doesn't usually wake up one day and throw his morals and good character out the window to "qualify" for the Boston Marathon. His letter to the principal was a huge reflection on his lack of character.
I'll bet there are more than a few people in his circle who couldn't tell you the difference between race pace and a jar of Pace Salsa, but are probably enjoying this because he finally got exposed for who he really is.
Are you this much of a drama queen in real life?

Going back to the evidence that Mike Rossi did run a 3:11 at LH. It can be summed up as:
1. He crossed the start and finish mats as evidenced by his chip time.
2. There are photos of him at the finish.
That's it. That is the only evidence we have that supports that he ran a 3:11.

What depths? Analyzing his run times, photos and his own social media postings? The posters here could easily be silenced if Mr. Rossi would simply provide support for his BQ race. It is pretty simple. Instead, the man who prior to a day or two days ago used social to detail his every move and thought has gone mute.
Hypocrisy and antagonistic narcissism solicit strong reactions in human beings. This guy is the worst kind of liar. He has earned and deserves public humiliation. It could all go away if he just admitted his deceit and apologized.

It seems to me like Mike and his friends are increasingly posting in this thread with the most recent pages peppered with their responses trying to make this "go away." Mike if you really want to make this go away then fess up to what you did and teach your kids another "learning experience" of repenting from your mistakes in life. I guarantee people would go easier on you if you owned up to your actions.

Looking at this from Mike Rossi's perspective (assuming he did cheat), he figured nobody would ever know that he cheated, his kids would get to look at him as a positive role model, their lives in return would be better because they have a more positive dad to motivate them, and most importantly, the world would indeed be a better place...until you LR idiots decide to make the world a worse place!
You can't really blame the guy for actually thinking the world would be a better place if he cheated to get himself into Boston. You can only blame him for being stupid enough to not realize he could get caught (and you can't really blame someone for being stupid - that's genetics).
I'd say leave this guy alone. Why make things worse? If YOU were stupid enough to not realize you'd get caught, I bet YOU would've done the exact same thing too. Why wouldn't you? I would've (if I was stupid enough), and I'm the most honest guy I know!
What kind of role model would tie his ability to qualify for Boston as the end all be all of whether their kid's lives would be better? A positive role model would run the race honestly with whatever results precipitated out of his training and conditions on race day and then discuss in their proper context. Better yet, a positive role model wouldn't tie any of their personal athletic achievements to whether his/her kids have a better life. The best lesson for his kids, or any kids for that matter, is about the process or journey of how you approach anything. Do it honestly, treating everyone with respect, and not much else is needed to send a good message to his kids. They will unconditionally love and support their Dad.

Where were you when Mr. Rossi was berating an elementary school principal for doing her job by merely enforcing the policy set forth by the school district? Honestly the stuff he said in the that letter about his children learning more during their trip to Boston than sitting in a classroom with elementary teachers is correct(lets be honest most elementary teachers are idiots, we all knew those girls in college). He hardly berated the principle, that letter was filled with sarcasm, but not all that much disrespect.
As for everything else, yea he probably cheated. The guy is definitely a douche if his social media is any example of him in real life. However, this whole event is trivial at best. He faked a slow time so he run even slower at Boston. No money was won or lost. If you are running slower than 3 hours, there is nothing "special" or sanctimonious about running Boston. Honestly everyone on this thread AND Mike Rossi needs to get over themselves and stop obsessing over a bunch of douchebaggery.

Yes it was. And Rossi's "once in a lifetime" comment provided us with a periscope into his mind.
If Mike really did run a 3:11 marathon then it means on that one day he:
set two half marathon PRs, back-to-back
set four 10K PRs, back-to-back-to-back-to-back
Did so on a warm day, not ideal for fast times.
Did so without being photographed on course despite multiple official race photo spots on course other than the finish line. Finish line photos of Mike, which would exist if Mike did or did not cut the course, showed that his bib was clearly visible and should have been picked up by the photographers. Also, no photos of Mike during the race have been seen in the Lost-and-Found bin, and Mike has not appeared in the background of anyone else's race photos during the marathon.
Did so on a course that just happens to not have any timing maps other than the start/finish.
Did so either without recording it via GPS (which he has done for other runs/race) or choosing not to share his GPS data (which would be crazy if he actually had the data as it would basically clear him)
Statistically speaking, the chances that he did not cheat at this race and there are valid explantations for each of the above issues all occurring together at Mike's once-in-a-lifetime race are slim to none and I think slim may have just left town.
Dial It Up, I think you are right about the letter. Not much disrespect in it and probably largely on point. The disrespect comes from posting it publicly, whether it went viral or not. Even broadcast among his FB/Twitter friends, is a fairly wide net to cast for something that should have been kept between the school and this family. Even if posting the letter inflamed the situation among just the school community, it was more than the principal probably deserved.

Not impossible. My friend set a half PR and marathon PR in the second half of the super hot 2012 Boston Marathon with his fastest 5K being the 35-40K with a sub-20. Bib# 2063. Look him up. Totally doable.
