Many of you won't remember in the 80's when the US lost the Yachting World Cup. The US had won like the prior 1000 World Cups, it never made the news, no one cared but when we lost the World Cup America went into a frenzy.
There was a huge marketing campaing "Yank It Back" and it captured the nation for like a year building up to the race and of course the US won the Americas Cup and everyone went back to not caring.
This is how you ding dongs are overreacting to Mike Rossi getting into Boston. No one gave two craps about Boston before this. No one will give two craps after this.
That had to be the worst TV sporting event of all time.
4 hours of live coverage on ESPN, consisting of yachting experts talking boring crap, and shots of guys hand-cranking sails.
And a guy standing in a pool with two little toy ships, trying to explain the strategy.
