You've been pushing this stupid theory for weeks. It's ridiculous.
Your theory is that a runner ran the marathon, snuck off into the woods at around mile 25, dropped off the bib, our boy Mikey picked it up, pinned it to his shirt, and then Mikey ran 1:45 faster than his buddy over the final mile?
That's an astoundingly stupid theory.

Hi Mike!
Well Hello GregTR
Here's how he could have found out whether or not there were timing mats: "Deer Race Director. I would like to know if your event will have timing mats this year."

Wait, are you arguing the claim that Rossi actually ran the LVM in 3:11? What leads you to support that theory? I'm really curious because all the details I see line up with a cheat.
I was saying earlier how telling it is that not one verifiable runner - buddy, spectator, someone who noticed him on the course, whatever - was able to vouch for him. What's interesting to me is that, if anyone challenged him on his 4:03 time at Boston or 3:43 at Philly, I imagine he'd have a lot to say in proof. But a wildly unlikely PR at an easily cheatable race? From the guy who was pumping himself up to random FB friends for the cover of Runners World? Crickets...
The commenter a few pages back nailed it - it's a shame the LVM ends up with its reputation damaged like this.
Oh Lord, really?
No, Maggie. I don't believe Mike Rossi actually ran the LVM in 3:11.
Nobody does, so you really don't have to present reasons why you think he cheated. We covered that 40,000 posts ago.
Lehigh took the easy way out with that non-decision. The one thing they screwed up in my opinion was to leave the door open for them to accept and review future evidence.
While I don't think anything conclusive will ever surface it certainly will keep anyone who is interested in looking to do so. I say keep speculating , it does no harm.
Maybe someday we will find out who took the picture of him after the finish with his medal. That person may very well be the key to the truth.
"Seriously" has made a lot of very valid and good points and it has made me reconsider my original position . Thie comments and behavior trashing MR , including my own , have gotten to the point where the rhetoric trying to "right the wrong" has now become worse than the initial wrong. It is no longer useful to continue this any longer , I refuse to let MR any longer take over my life . I refuse to have this issue dictate my free time . I decided to start over and look at all the information objectively and without malice or pre-conceived ides and I now believe it is possible he ran the entire race . 3:11 is definitely a possibility for a new runner to achieve , so I ask myself , why not MR ? He is no different than myself , a man can do anything if he puts his mind to it , and just because I may not like the man because of some letter he wrote and became famous for it , is no reason for myself to not believe he is capable of achieving a race time that seems a little out of his reach . After all , Via organization is all about individuals achieving success Over and above limitations with dedication and hard work , I think it is great that MR achieved his Personal Best at such a race and I congratulate him , and I believe that the RD decision to uphold MR's time is a good decision , based on information they discovered during their investigation . I am happy to say I am no longer emotionally attached to this issue . Thank You
A question I have yet to hear posed... Who was the USATF representative that advised LVM? I would love to see a name.
Also, everybody is focused on facebook for airing this out. There are other ways to bring this travesty of a decision to potential LVM registrants:

I am very surprised that marathon guide hasn't blown up with comments on this.
Good job going after the Via Marathon Facebook page. Hopefully if you try hard enough you can become just like Mike Rossi and embarrass the RD. Lets get his home address, taunt his wife and kids. Lets bury this guy! Maybe just maybe all this will go viral and you sanctimonious pieces of dog shit can start a circle jerk to celebrate your victory.
If anyone who has anything to do with LetsRun is okay with the actions of it's readers than they are no better than Mike Rossi. You people are filth.
HI Mike!Guess you wouldn't know the RD is a female because you only know stuff about yourself. No one is inciting a riot here, no one is going after the wife and kids. Just the cheater...and his odoriferous minions.

I guess since the RD won't the time to properly investigate neither would anybody on on this forum. But I wonder how feasible it would be to contact as many runners as we can via Facebook and ask them if their friends or relative took any photos at the starting line. Maybe somebody has a shot of Mike Rossi leaving the course, or walking away instead of getting on the course at all.

1. Having somebody run with his bib would mean he wouldn't have to start the race and possibly be seen leaving the course, which seems to have worked well for him as the statement about his no DQ has made clear.
2. The other thing is that Mike would have no way of knowing if the race added any more timing mats this year. Past races show there are none, but Rossi had know way to confirm that for this race. If he assumed and they added mats his whole plan would be down the toilet.
And his bib definitely looks like it's been folded at 4 equally spaced areas at the top.
Occam's Razor, pal. He doesn't need a second person to help. We've already seen he could cross the start (where we saw a picture), then drive to the finish and cross the line again.
Nothing you're bringing up is relevant.
Crazy idea. if you don't like this board, don't read it. I've read every post, including the ones that are just a number, and this is the first time I remember seeing the thought of a folded bib and a specific other runner. I actually agree with you - why drag up allegations on another runner? - but it does look like the idea touched a nerve. It's clear that Mike is still reading along and chiming in on this board too (the Random capitalization is his tell). So I honestly thought you might be Mike. Sorry to waste your incredibly valuable time. The question still ticking away for me is how/where Mike would've got the idea to do this.

If everyone here hates Mike Rossi so much for being such an attention-whoring, egotistical douche bag, why do you keep talking about him?
The worst thing you can do to him is stop talking about him.
You're right !!! We are not going to get anywhere creating another 209 pages of thread repeating the previous 209 pages of thread . The more we scream the less VIA is paying attention to us . We are now the "little boy that cried wolf" . The story is dead ! Nobody other than Lets Run posters care about Mike Rossi's marathon time . We all look ridiculous with no lives as we continue to beat the dead horse. The only thing we will achieve now is to give some reality TV producer an idea to make Mike Rossi a reality TV star . Every reality show needs a villain , a pariah , someone that draws in viewers that people hate , so that they can generate millions of dollars in advertising . Do you think people watch the kardashians for educational value ? Do you think TMZ gives a crap about Kylie, Kendall , Kim, Bruce the weirdo or anything else ? Heck , The mom was married to murderer OJ's lawyer ! That doesn't stop them from 24/7 news cycle of that bunch of idiots does it ? But America tunes in because ya' can't not look at a car wreck . Mike Rossi will be the next reality tv star , the guy everyone loves to hate by the 9000th post on here . No , sorry folks , nobody's listening except yourselves !

If you were no longer emotionally attached to this issue you would not be posting comments on this thread. Based on the BS you typed before the above quote, it's more than likely your are Mike Rossi. Mike Rossi, you are a cheater and a scumbag, everyone in running knows it, and we will always remember you like Rosie Ruiz and Kip Litton.
President of Lehigh valley health network is a Mike Rossi who is a doctor
Coincidence?
Phil knight has been to doctors
Do you really think the most powerful man in sports doesn't know!????

I have a very analytical mind. So we have to think the way a cheater would think. So if we were going to cheat what would we have to do to make sure we didn't get caught?
First, we'd have to make sure nobody saw us. Th easiest way to do that is to not even begin the race. Check in, get the bib, give it to another runner who folds it and sticks it in his pocket. Mike Rossi drives away with hundreds of other people who are dropping runners off.
Then his accomplice throws the folded up bib into the wood at a predetermined area. I'm thinking Hill Rd. where it crosses the river. There are closed businesses close by where Rossi could park and run to the drop-ff point. Rossi hides in the bushes until his accomplices throws the bib is way. His need to hide would explain the all black apparel, which is completely out of his character compared to other races.
He unfolds the bib, pins it on, and keeps an eye out across the bridge until nobody is coming and just slips into the race undetected.
And again, the reason to go through all this is because Rossi would have no way to know for certain that there were no timing mats. Does any race every tell the runners how many and where they are on the course?
If I was Rossi this is how I'd do it. I wouldn't take the chance of having somebody see me leave the course or that the RD decided to add more timing mats this year.

I DID NOT POST THIS. SOMEBODY IS POSTING UNDER MY SCREEN NAME. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?
Hey Rojo,
If you don't want to do an article on cheater Mike Rossi, how about an article on minimizing cheating for BQs. LHVM can video and mat every square inch of the course, but applying a "day of" complaint criteria appropriate for a very different event would likely make those measures moot.
I think it is reasonable for Boston to have criteria for the integrity of their qualifying races. It could be the best thing that could come out of this sad tale.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
