"The LVHN Via Marathon has not received any reports from the more 2,500 race participants, thousands of spectators, and more than 600 volunteers, course marshals, security personnel, medical personnel or race officials on the course of any wrong doing by any runner."
That's because Mike spent almost no time on the race course. He ducked into a Porta-Potty early on, at the first relay transfer point; waited until the crowds had passed; emerged and walked/jogged to his car, as though he were a relay runner who'd completed his stretch; drove to the last relay transfer point (after all the photographers); and ran all or some portion of the final leg.
Nobody saw him do anything wrong because he didn't spend much time on the course--not enough to show up in a single photo, except the start and finish--; because there are no timing mats; and because, to his credit, he was smart enough to figure out that the organizers were DUMB enough to have created a race in which this sort of scam could be run.
Then he excecuted it.
In order to DQ him, the LVM organizers would have to reveal just how poorly set up their marathon was--and how easily the scam could be run (so to speak).
