In a cheater's mind the world revolves around them. When Mike said he had evidence, he only had in mind the people that either bought his BS and others that he considered "friends". No sane objective person could ever fall for it. To him he was being slick but to everyone else he was just delusional. I still stick with my theory that he didn't get DQed only because too much time had passed since the race. That and the incompetent decision makers. He lucked out, plain and simple.Or so he thought... one since his heroic race Mike is a reduced to $hit on a stick. He lives in a real purgatory, everyone knows he's a fraud yet he can't push himself to own his f*ck up, which is the only thing that will allow him to move on. It's gonna be another great year Mike, looking forward to seeing this thread continue to grow and you're name plastered all over the net again. Happy 1 year!

Sarah Lyall, the Times reporter who did the piece on the woman who cheated in a series of tris (once a London correspondent for the Times) has put up an Insider piece on the background of the original. This (emph. added) struck me as familiar:
She said she did not want to engage with her critics because whatever she did, she would be attacked. At one point she even promised to provide evidence that she had completed one of the races in question, a Squamish mountain bike race called Test of Metal. But she never sent the information.
