US splits:
Merber 2:53.56
Spratling 45.95
Johnson 1:44.75
Blankenship 3:51.24
Very fast -- that's what it takes for a WR.

There was a second there where I thought he might be able to beat Blankenship. Now THAT would have been incredible.
I mean at the end, obviously, after Blankenship had already passed him.

Rotich ran like a warrior stud, really impressed!
You are often wrong, but this may be the dumbest thing you've ever said. Nothing gutsy about shooting yourself in the leg and costing your country the race.
No Bolt in the 4x200... Sigh
With Johnson at 1:44 that must put Jordy Williamsz somewhere close to 1:44 or 1:45... impressive performance. Looks like he's nearing his 3:36 form from 2012 at least.

who are all these B-squad Kenyans, anyway? Where are their top athletes, don't they want to win?
It's about exposure for inexperienced athletes who, otherwise, would never get a chance to represent their country. Some of these guys are on their first trips abroad.
USA goes 2 for 2 in 4X200 baton f--kups. It's not an event we race in this country.
Jamaica bungles the exchange and WINS!!!!
A longstanding American tradition in the sprint relays.

I want to know what Gatlin split on that leg... holy cow
We have been world lead in this particular skill for a very long time. Jamaica seems to be trying hard to catch up, but they haven't quite figured out the drop drill.

Not surprising, considering how epically idiotic they are running.
nice going coach mitchell
Looks like 1:45.64 for Williamsz. Very impressive.
US team was pumped.
Talked to US coach Vin Lananna. He said he let the 4x800 guys pick which race they wanted to run. All 4 guys yesterday chose 4x800 so that left Brandon for 4x800 and he ran great today.
Ben Blankenship said he thought he might get the baton in the lead so he had worked out hand signals with Coach Lananna. That helped him today when he was behind as he just wanted to make sure he was on pace.
Kyle Merber told the guys before hand a world record was a possibility and being the Ivy Leaguer had all the splits worked out. He said when he hit 800 in 2:00, he thought he'd be behind pace but he closed like a maniac. He said Vin told him not to hand off in the lead unless it was a big lead which was interesting. Merber joked this was the US "d" team. They are now the world record holders.
Post race videos from DMR on youtube channel:
USA 4x2
#3 leg looking the wrong way and was standing at the end of the zone. Looked like he didn't have a go mark.
#2 ran in wrong portion of the lane
Terrible

it's not fair to have 5 guys in the 4x800
The U.S. women had terrible 4x100 exchanges. The baton slowed down so much with each handoff except the last one.
Felix had an awful leg
VCB and Jamaica over Jeter in USA in 4x100.
That's the first relay US has lost where they haven't dropped the stick.
Jeter looks shocked.
