I don't think that anyone is claiming that we don't already know that some people respond to training better than others. The discussion is on why this occurs. I found this interesting.
The same could be said for education. Some respond to intellectual challenges, others don't, no matter how much money you spend on the effort.

Every individual muscle in the body possess said trait independently to a unique degree, e.g. a person's biceps can have it to a high degree while his triceps have it to a low degree. Therefore many genes are implicated. Moreover the gross trait in the muscle as a whole is the net result of traits possessed by all the individual fibers within that muscle. Therefore, as many genes are implicated as there are muscle cells on the body. Also, the trait is established during some stage of growth and development, likely before birth. Therefore the scientists are on the wrong track in the first place by focusing on genres that control the immediate response to exercise, which are only a small part of the story.

Correct. It's established at conception.

What about him?
And we have the winner of this thread!
There are too many outliers and environmental factors that effect this study. One cant generalize and make a broad claim based on the effects of the same work out. Each individual has a different environment and method to recovery. They either demolish the returns of exercise or build upon it.
Unless that is, they monitored the individuals activity, nutrition, sleep and recovery as well as kept everything the same.
