Today, Annie Bersagel won the Marathon in Düsseldorf, Germany, for the second time setting a new PB of 2:28:28. The field was very weak though. 2nd place was 2:55:21. Only five men ran faster than Bersagel.

Where do we rank her for the Trials?
1-2, Desi / Shalane
3-6, ???
Thanks for posting this.
21k Euro for the Win. Not bad, about $20K USD.
Almost 23,000 USD
Pretty good payday. Although I think she's an attorney for a Swiss bank, so probably not hurting for cash.
Definitely a weak field, as noted by the OP. If the results I read are correct, she was 8 minutes behind the #5 man (2:20) & 5 minutes ahead of the #6 man (2:33), not to mention 27 minutes ahead of the #2 woman. So, that would suggest she ran this 2:28 PB pretty much as a solo effort. An easy win, to be sure, but not easy to run a PB solo. If she remains healthy and improves a bit more she may have a legit chance in the OT.
Pics indicate she's noww sponsored by Under Armour.
Did she run under 36 for the last 300?
Ich bin so froh das diese madchen hat so schnell gelauft. Ich glaube das in ein gutes rennen, sie kann ungefahr 2.25 laufen, oder besser!
Ghost in China
German article about the race:
Bersagel was tripped by another runner and fell at about 10k. But she recovered quickly and split halfway in 1:13:40. She had pacemakers until 35k.
Bersagel: "I'm very happy with the pb. Of course, the fall was brief moment of shock. The pacemakers did a very good job."
The only other fast woman in the field, Sirlene De Sousa Pinho of Brazil (2:35 pb) had already dropped out at 13k because of cramps.

As of now, I would rank her #4, behind your 1-2, and Hastings. looking at US women's marathoners 2013-now, I think Bersagel is the only other one aside from Linden and Flanagan to have run under 2:30 more than once in these years. But I would still put Hastings ahead of her, for now.
Don't count out Kara or Deena.
Maegan Krifchin w/ a comeback race in 7th (2:33) as well.
Serena Burla has run 2:28 twice (Amsterdam and Seoul) since the last trials and won the USA half-marathon champs and finished second to Flanagan another time, both in the 1:10's. I'd say she'd have to be in the conversation.
why have I never heard of her? she's incredibly gorgeous, could be a household name with a couple more runs like that, combined with those looks, a marketers dream right there. apologies but was she any good in college? obviously I don't pay enough attention if she was, as I don't really remember the name.

She live in Norway, so isn't as well known in the U.S.
She won Twin Cities in 2013, won Dusseldorf last year, was 10th (2nd American) in NYC.
She was good in college (3rd NCAA Indoor 5000), but not good enough to do the full-time running thing, especially since she was an accomplished student (NCAA Woman of Year, Fulbright Scholar, Stanford Law).
She definitely put herself in a good position to chase that 3rd spot on the Olympic team.
