To be blunt American runners just suck. Perhaps the biggest marathon there is and the only person we can route for is a runner who is not really American, he is Aritrean. LOL. For real American finishers we will have some random dude running 2:12-ish and another 2:17-ish. No others below 2:20. How lame is that?
Ritz to the lead right after you said that.
Did they just say Ritz was 300 m back at one point? That seems hard to believe. That would be a minute back.
But clearly he overcame whatever problem he had!

Was that woman cheering on Ritz? Ritz passed her, and she appeared to make some type of cheer.
She was running near the leaders filming. Dumb.

Ritz trying to break them???
He's crackers.
Lol at the girl racing with a cell phone snapping photos of the men's leaders as they pass her.
This is what it felt like when Shorter took the lead in '72.
Erich Segal was doing "expert commentary." So not much different from today, either.

Why is Ritz leading???
BECAUSE HE IS GOOD!!!!
Ritz materializes out of nowhere, and some chick running with one pink sock is taking pictures.

How annoying would that be though? Like B- IM TRYING TO WIN SOME MONEY GO AWAY
Who knows how this will end, but this is a good reminder of how great a marathoner Des is.
Too bad Ritz blew his steam this early. Well, if he loses the hat and the warmers quickly he could still grab top 5.
Even though it is a bit of a crazy move for Ritz at that pace, I like this. It is nice to see Americans go for it and take chances rather than accept defeat at the start line in just try to "do their best." Sometimes you have to see what you're made of on any given day. Careers don't last forever.
BAA live leaderboard is malfunctioning. It's not listing anything more than the top 10 men. And it only lists one American at 15k which was a long time ago.
Total disaster on the tracking. If you type in Nick Arciniaga or any runner , it only shows splits through 10k.
WHILE YOU GUYS ARE WATCHING WHEELCHAIR YOU ARE MISSING A TON OF ACTION. DESI LINDEN IS LEADING..
shalane Flanagan was dropped at the 1:38:30 mark.
As happy as I am that Ritz has surged, I'm afraid he has taken off way too soon. The men's race hasn't even really begun yet
Tadese getting dropped
WOOOO GO RITZENHEIN
Reminds me of Kennedy going to the lead of the 1996 5000m and then taking 6th.
SHALAME!
I should also add that being heavier should be a slight advantage for a heavier guy in stronger headwinds.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
I think Letesenbet Gidey might be trying to break 14 this Saturday
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
