Ritz already done???
Ritz already done???
Ritz is between the leaders and Teg, he's running on the other side of the road.
Nate Jenkins on 2:16:28 pace thru 10k.

My guess is she didn't want someone running 5:20s and breaking up the pack. She always has a great last 10K, so perhaps this is an attempt to keep the pack intact so she can really race with the leaders at the end.
Also, it seems like Flanagan is off to one side and not really tucking directly behind somebody. Seems counter-intuitive to running in a pack.
archinaga did the same thing the hot year and dnf so im not holding my breath. easy to go for it when fist half is downhill
I'm at the guide exchange point around 19 miles in the wind gusts are starting to get stronger. The elite fluid station tables are getting blown over
Circle the entire lead pack to show where Shalane is, then state "it's almost as if she wants to run on the inside the whole way" ... "yes that saves distance"

Teg right back in the pack. Gunning for the win?
Just nailing from behind, as he is wont to do.

Mile 2: 5:28 (11:06)
Mile 3: 5:19 (16:25) (Deba took the lead at 4k, drops three women, pack stringing out with Desi a few meters off the back)
5K: 16:57 (2:23:03 pace)

Looks like the excitement of running through Wellesley College might have caused them to pick it up a little.
Meb looks flat out right now unfortunately.
American women looking good.
Who was that fat b@stard ahead of the lead pack who got in their way?
I repeat, attrition on the men's side will be high. 2:04 pace is 2:04 pace. The weather is not going to improve as they approach Boston. It will get colder and windier. 2:08 or slower will win the race
4:44 9th mile … Desisa out pushing now, Chebet in 2nd, Korir, Tsegay, Meb only American still with the lead pack.
Desisa is now putting a bit of a gap on the pack.
Pace is heating up. Desisa in front. Several guys falling off the back. Meb still in there. Teg and Ritz not in sight. Picking Lusapho April as the dark horse to win this. Desisa looks very relaxed, though.
Desisa trying to move. Gebremariam looks like he's dropping. Rest of field getting strung out.
Was it your mum?

Right, it looks like he's sprinting, can't see him hanging on much longer at that pace...

I wonder if the pace car holds a sign telling the runners to surge whenever we switch to wheelchair...
