I won a JV HS 800m race last week by about three seconds, a pretty large gap if you look at it on the track. Usually I'm around the middle of the pack and I had never won a race before this one. I lead most of the race and I felt great the whole way through, so when I finished I was on a huge rush. I pumped my fist in the air a couple times and high-fived a bunch of teammates right after finishing because of the gigantic adrenaline high I was on. If I could go back I would not have done that, though, as it probably made me look arrogant and full of myself for winning the race.
What are your thoughts on celebrating after a win? Does it make runners look like narcissists or is it usually okay?
