Hey! I want my thread back.
There is no such thing. "Barefoot Running Shoe" is an oxymoron. For morons.

I got mixed up a bit there. "Prancing" is a different movement, and it usually produces the metatarsal stress I referred to. Quick mention in the Cucuzella video.

He look absolutely ridiculous when he runs with that low center of gravity.
Vibrams are the common shoe I wear but try the Saucony Hattoris if you could find a pair in your size but if you cant find none the Merrell Vapor Gloves would be my 3rd choice.

Maybe. He looks pretty badass on that scooter though.
Why do you want to run barefoot? What articles did you fish for that make you think it is a good idea? I literally do not understand this phad, nor do I think it is a good idea for any surface except for like fresh green grass.
Just put brown paper bags over your feet.

Plastic bags or it will burst like you're shopping bags do. Go Ron Hill style with 2 plasters over toes

Agree with others above about running barefoot on the track. It's one of the nicest surfaces on the planet to run on. If it hurts your feet - especially if you are referring to metatarsal pain - then you are not running correctly.
Another nice surface to run on is sidewalks, which I only found out about recently. I expected them to be too hard, but was surprised that due to being so smooth, they are even more comfortable and easier to run on than a track, provided they're not littered with debris.
Dirt roads are good too, as long as they're not covered with sharp rocks.
Sockwa is the closest you will get.
Merrel Vapor 2's are great but the closest to barefoot feel would be Sockwa.

I do run barefoot, but I need a shoe for many reasons. I can't run barefoot on a track, it hurts my feet. I do run barefoot on the infield BUT my coach told me there could be broken glass so I can't do that anymore. Also, when I wear spikes in my race in track it hurts my injury, Achilles Tendonitis. The only time my injury doesn't hurts is when I wear shoes. It's very odd. SO I need a good barefoot running shoe.
No you do not need a barefoot running shoe, you need a running shoe. Running barefoot with AT issues is asking for not being able to run at all. I learned the hard way. Get something with a bit more of a drop and some stability and your Achilles will be much happier.
I highly recommend the New Balance Minimus HI-REZ for this -- it is essentially a rubber sock. I wore them twice a week for a 4-mile second run, and I can confirm that they are basically just like barefoot. You can roll up the shoes.
I also love wearing them on boats, where you want to be barefoot with just a little extra grip.
Nike Free 5.0
Butyl rubber paint on the sole of a freshly-scrubbed and dried foot?
Real indian moccasin shoes
Buy a pair of XC flats and run in them. I've put over 1500 miles on a pair of Saucony Shays that I bought for $30, some off-road, mostly on-road. Honestly, there's no sense in buying "minimalist" shoes that'll crap out at 300 miles when you can get a pair of XC flats for 1/3 the price or less with roughly the same result.
(Is this "identical" to running barefoot? Nope. But nothing is. If you want to run barefoot for some reason, do it. If you want to run light, see above.)
