Is this the sign of better things to come or is this guy peaking too soon?
Alex Amankwah: Will he win The 800M NCAA This Year?

He might. He might not. That's what I think.

Gosh, I hope so! Straight out of the LA hood. Did not run until his Senior year in H.S. First time he ran the 800, he ran a 51, 60 (2:01). Two months later he ran 1:53.5. Lowered his time to 1:49ish at WLACC, and is now crushing it at Alabama. Peaking too soon? Not if he is going to finish the year at 1:44!

oh word. -
Math is fun.

FACT: Mark Everett holds the facility or "track" record for the 800. FACT: Mark Everett was still an NCAA athlete when he set that time. FACT: Mark Everett went on to win NCAA's that year.
FACT: Alex Amankwah was only .02 off of Mark Everett's track record. FACT: Alex Amankwah is an NCAA athlete. THUS: Alex Amankwah will win NCAA's.

So did he actually run 51, 70 for 2:01, then? -

Probably meant to write 61,60 for 2:01 -
No I like 51, 70 better haha
But no, just cause he's NCAA leader 3 weeks into the outdoor season doesn't mean anything
Last year, Brandon McBride, Eluid Rutto, and Edward Kemboi still ended up w/ lower 1:45's last year, we still have plenty of meets to go
The real question is, does Alex Amankwah know how to RACE, McBride knows how to race, Ryan Schnulle knows how to race, Edward Kemboi knows how to race, does he have a lot of racing experience? Is he going to pull a Soratos and run a 23 second 3rd 200m?
As far as I know, the NCAA leader for the indoor mile in the last 4 years hasn't won the NCAA title, 3 of those had broke the NCAA Record in the mile at the Millrose Games
This was true for the men's 1500m, the men's 3k, the men's 5k indoor, the men's 5k outdoor, the mens 10k outdoor, the women's 1500m, the women's outdoor 5k and the women's 10k, NCAA leaders, but no title -

ummm, Eric Jenkins? indoor 3k and 5k leader and he won both, so those two are wrong. -
I was referring to last year, 2014 (hence why I distinguished between outdoor/indoor and used the 10k), Chez won both the 3k and 5k titles, but wasn't the NCAA leader
