Dressel beat Mantz by a few seconds, both in the 25:20 range.
I love watching them get blown away by the East Africans, hopefully it will teach them some humility.

Mantz was the second US runner in, two spots back from whoever was first. Stream is crystal clear here for me. I'd guess he was in the 30's...
[Saw a few finish in the 25-minute range. Mantz was the first one I saw, but I kept going back and forth b/w this thread and the stream so could have missed someone before him possibly.[/quote]
Thanks Soprano!

I'm not going to try to stream anymore. I've been working on it for over an hour and I've haven't been able to connect. And I used to watch a lot of sports on streams but not anymore.
Thanks for any tips given though.
It should have been put on youtube for everyone to see. That's how I watched Comrades.
GO USA!

these jr men are 6 minutes off the pace and rolling on the ground at the finish like they sprinted for the win? seriously?
Haji looked v impressive - great kick and not even tired! Yet again most non -Africans troop in 2 mins back - and that's the good ones.
GB right at the back in the first race and not much better in junior mens. Good coverage from the BEEB.
Team results, junior men
Kenya
Ethiopia
Eritrea
US 6th

To the guy who says Cain would have won. i HIGHLY doubt it. She didn't even win NXN. Why in God's name do you thinks she'd win this?
This race is a strength runner's race and Cain/Salazar said they learned she's an 800/1500 runner now not 1500/5k.
The Chinese TV came on. It's hilarious. They are showing all of the officials making the speaches and what not. Haven't shown any running yet. I guess the junior races aren't really important but it's kind of funny.
Well Cain EASILY won the 3000 at world juniors and any women who can run 3:52-3:55 as Salazar said he expects Cain to do is on another level, than the girls in this race even if it is a longer distance than her specialty (up to 5-8k and this was a 6k).

Some quick info on the top 2. Yasin Haji (Ethiopia) is the World Junior 5000 silver medalist. He set a 5000 PB int hat race with 13:26.
Tilastopaja lists Geoffrey Korir with a 5000 PB of only 14:29 and 10,000 of 28:52. He was only 5th at the Kenyan Junior Championships qualifying for this race.
Korir really made the race pushing early, then settling back into the pack before surging again at the end breaking everyone in the lead pack except Haji. Haji just hung on him until the end and you wondered if Haji was struggling to hold on or saving for a big kick.
In the final meters it was obvious Haji was just sitting as he had a blistering kick putting about 4-seconds on Korir in the final straight.
Kenya won the meet easily with 19 points ahead of Ethiopia's 33. Bahrain 3rd. Team USA back in 8th.
Eritrea were 3rd soprano.
I talked to John Dressell ( top American), and Justyn Knight (Syracuse/Canada) and COnner Mantz. Dresselw as the top American. I think they all were real tight. They clearly were fighting it out for top North American honors.
Dressell , who will be a Buff, was happy to be top American. Mantz , who is going on a Mormon mission for 2 years starting on July 23rd and has decided to where to go to college (Princeton/BYU are under consideration), could barely stand up. Knight or is Knyght gave a shout to Chris Fox and Syracuse.
Youtube and vimeo are blocked so I'll post videos when you guys get up in the morning.
What's up with BBC, how can they cut the Ethiopian's national anthem?! Show some respect!

We also beat ALL the European teams. We beat all our cousins from across the pond.
Monsters from some other dimension of distance running.
I like how Gidey grabbed the finishing tape when she crossed. She's not gonna get tripped up like Mo.
