No cheers for Paula. She's a hypocrite. She has no problem taking nike's "dirty" money after Lances, Jones and questuons about Salazar. In fact, she is totally silent on Farah.
She only seems to focus on US athletes. It's pathetic.

That figure is accurate. I know someone who works for Nike and they confirmed that # to me. I will never wear Nike again.
Your contact doesn't know beans about the contract. A very small internal team know the content. Its not an circulated document or accessible. Purely lunch room chatter is what friend knows.
Actually, Nike is a public company and the information can be made public with a request. Gatlin's agent was calling around asking $300K, so $500K sounds excessive, unless it's $500K for 3 years, which is more reasonable. This does not include the bonus performance clauses of $25K for US title, $50K for Olympic Gold, etc.
Justin Gatlin was the top sprinter in the world last year where Gay has not broke 9.8 since 2011. Gatlin also has a better personality and is far more marketable to the 99.9% of high school athletes and NARP community that do not know he tested positive.
wouldn't paula's statement be more powerful if she dropped nike as her sponser? that would create actual media attention and probably cost nike money.
Just to correct this moronic comment in case anyone else reads and believes it, public companies (which only means that their shares are publicly traded) do NOT need to provide information on request. There's no freedom of information act for public companies. Public companies are required to file certain information (quarterly financial statements, etc) with the SEC, including "material" agreements. But for a company the size of Nike, no agreement with any track athlete would be considered material.

After all this, and the L-carnitine thread, I'm starting to like Nike as a company again. With all the economic turmoil this year, Nike have gone from $70 to $100 a share this past year. How they were able to buyout and take over USATF was a brilliant business move. Think I'll give there shoes another shoot this summer.
Truely disgusting .......
absolute dope fest.
Queue lots of articles on athletics
never been cleaner and healthier.
gatlin is clean now and running faster
and multiple times than when dirty
and faster over 200!!!!$$!!!!!!!!.
Definitly nothing up here..........
like old man kim collins didnt have IGF-1
when caught last time .
if wada dont pull all stops to catch him
Then total embarressment and supporting.
cant or wont do much for peptide use,
but hit him with other ped use
hormones be it undetectable or pure test. Wada just for show.
Similarly gay if starts dropping fast times.
For record as sick of hearing.....

Cycling is ...so much cleaner than athletics

Wearing NOP Pegasuses right now, and I feel like a champ. If you're not cheating, you're not trying.
Always liked Adidas. If you are correct on their stance with respect to the two male sprinters, then I applaud Adidas and will buy more of their products as an endorsement of their stance against know drug cheats.
My sense is there is some component to what was earlier mentioned about Gatlin's coach, the young female sprinter who trains under the same coach and their (three contracts) with Nike.
Can't understand why a high school sprinter would surround herself with such a group of known drug cheats or that her parents would endorse that.

adidas ordered Gay leave Clermont and Coach Brauman's group. He has no contracted agreement with Nike at this moment in time. He will receive no $ for training with Smith. I am under no illusion that once he drops a 9.9, Nike will pay for him, but with no other options they will get him very cheap.
Interestingly adidas have instructed the organisers of the NYGP that neither Gatlin nor Gay are to race at the meet this year.
I don't know if any of this is true, but I hope it is. kudos to adidas for their stance. I wish more people would learn of it.

Nike are paying Gatlin a base of $500,000 per annum on a 3 year deal.
They must be quite sure he's going to compete for olympic gold. good lord.
Gatlin was making more than that prior to bust from Nike and was making more than that from Xtep. He was forced to sign with Nike after Mitchell signed Nike coaching deal to be Nike's sprint coach of choice to replace the aging John Smith and Bobby Kersee. That clearly shows where Nike sees things in terms of supporting the drug culture within the sport. Whatever means necessary.
It is a shame Kaylin Whitney being sold off into this culture, reminds me of the deluding of Marion Jones at about same age in HS which led to greater and greater degrees of bad choices until the total implosion.
