All dogs are different, and you can't assign sweetness to a whole breed. When I was a kid, the lady neighbor had a pug, and that thing would try to bite us any time it got out of her yard, and when in the yard it would stand by the fence and bark non-stop at us as we played basketball in the driveway (hoop attached to the garage). Horrible little dog.
Leave it to Flagpole to have known and even been terrorized by the one vicious pug in existence!
(yes, they can be barkers, like lots of dogs, but.......that doesn't make a dog "horrible." Annoying maybe, with bad owners, but.....not a horrible, vicious dog.
And sure, for the 2nd time I am giving you a hard time, and yes, not every pug in existence is nice, or every pit bull mean, but there are strong trends. You were a little kid, you might have imagined it was "try(ing) to bite us".
The real bottom line to this story is: one shouldn't take an action that could result in serious bodily harm to a person or pet if one isn't seriously and truly fearful of an injury to themselves. You shouldn't kill a dog just because you are annoyed. Seriously?? If it's a big dog, yes, kick hard, because A) the dog might actually harm you if it is up in your face, and b) your kick will probably not even hurt the thing in the slightest. But some little "all bark no bite" ankle biter (not even biter, but ankle barker)....boot it very hard in the head ?? C'mon. This guy was a tool. And trust me, I get angry when dogs bother me on a run. But those are much bigger dogs that might actually harm me if they are not friendly)
