He's clearly more of a 1500/5000/10000/HM guy than a HM/marathon guy.

So that was the European half marathon record that was just brought down by Mo.
Does anyone have a run down of the splits?

Ok, I thought the Kenyan could stay the course the last 100m. Despite that I'm quite pleased with my prediction. It confirms my superiority over the rest of the posters here.

Are you completely out of your mind? He's 70 seconds off the WR in the halfM and you think he could improve the 10 000 WR by seven seconds?
Maybe it's just me but I think this race actually showed Farah has no chance at 10K WR.

Yeah, 3:28 - 8:03 - 59:30.
Ventolin, what does that give for 5000 and 10000?
I'm not Ventolin, but I'd say 12:42 and 26:30. We'll see, though....
That's not a very valid conclusion. Mo certainly covers a huge range. He has the strength endurance of a long distance runner and the speed of a middle distance runner.
Anything a runner could break through would also be broken by a light wind or even a fart. So it wouldn't work.

How hard is it to just use a finishing tape that breaks away? This always seemed like a possibility.

For starters, it makes 8:03 a hard workout.
Mo ran a smart race. It looked pretty warm and the pacers went through the 8K in a blazing time but Mo never lost touch at any point. He held strong and never got beyond about 12 seconds back and was able to push past Kogo to win. It's amazing the range this guy has. The other guys are no match for him at the shorter distances.
One thing that struck me was how closely the cameraman would stick the camera into the leaders' faces. WAY too close. I think Rose was getting really irritated.

I can't tell if you're joking. (I was, but I was also right. Mo is blazing fast from 1500 to 13 miles. His marathon isn't in the same league.)
Crazy, really? Do you not remember Geb winning 1500m/3000m at indoor WCs, having the second fastest indoor 1500m time *ever* (still, at 3:31.76), running 58:55 for HM and generally being superior in every way to Farah?
That said, this was an amazing performance from Farah and he really is silencing the critics this year. Great race.
I have Ventolin and filled out 3:28.81 1500, 59:30 HM. It gives 12:44.36 for 5K and 26:47.40 10K.

His 10k PR is 26:46 right now
and people still live in the fantasy world where he is clean.

It'll be interesting to see Km by km splits if they have them.

If I remember correctly, they dropped the tape to the ground about 2 steps before the first woman got to the line. She ran OVER it instead of through it. Then they over-corrected for the men. For the wheelchairs they kept it high over head (as they should for safety reasons) but they kept it there for the top 3-4 wheelies for some reason before wrapping it back up.

Is it better living in the one where he isn't ?
I'll start by saying that I didn't get up at 6 am to watch the race. I also will admit this is a depressing thread. But I can't help but be cynical against Farah.
Sports is about irrationality and you have teams you root for and against and I'm against him. Never before have I seen someone move from a lane filler or the equivalent of a good bench player in the NBA to LeBron like status.
Anyway, given the manufactured fields and how farah was almost given the victory in the half last year, I'm asking a question for those of you that watched.
Did Farah win fair and square? Is their any chance Kogo let him win?
When I read the race thread, and realized it was down to two, Kogo and Farah, I started to laugh. "How convenient they have the same agent (Ricky Simms)?"
It didn't sound like it was contrived - sounds like a great and tactically brilliant race by Farah 0 but given all of the stuff in the past, I thought I'd ask.
So yes or no? Fixed or not?
