I recently heard a younger person complain about having to get up early tomorrow, referring to a 9 o'clock class. This blew me away because I would consider that sleeping in.

College is a different schedule
Usually 9:45. I am not in a good mood if I have to get up before 9.
Born in 1991. Up at 4:45 every morning. Getting up for a 9:00 class would definitely be considered extra sleep in my book.
Can we please all agree to stop these stupid posts about generations? They are beyond lame.
Thanks guys.

+1, BUT they do make a refreshing change from the political and religious threads.
1994 here
6:30am on Tuesday and Thursday, 11am on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 2pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Between 5-5:30 on week days. 6-7 on typical weekends.
7:30.
All of the medals I own, I earned by winning something or placing highly. They now reside in a box in my parents' basement.
I recently heard an older person complain about meeting for drinks at 8pm because they were too tired. I don't even get off work until then.
5:30 in the summer to do core work before working construction. Work, nap, run, dinner and bed by 930.
7:45 during the school year to do my morning run before class. Then again, we don't leave practice until 7:30pm, dinner until after 8 and then schoolwork until 11 (on a good night).
Really not that crazy once you get into a schedule.
Also, the older guys I work construction with often show up at job sites 1hour+ before we start work, just to hang out and shoot the shit. They only sleep a few hours a night and would rather get out of the house and hang out with the boys before work. They comment they really don't need much sleep anymore... so maybe you're just old??

Is your 8pm a work shift requirement, or a personal choice? Are you a professional who works more than 8 hrs per day, but only gets paid for 8 hrs, or an hourly worked working regular overtime with pay?
They only need a couple of neurons to pound a nail into a board. So two hours of sleep is sufficient.

I don't qualify as "older" yet, unless older is now 30, but professional working full time (long hours), and honestly, lately, on a weekend if I have a choice between going out for drinks or going to bed early, bed sounds so much better.
Also, to be that guy, I hate it when a late night screws up my long run.
Hmmm, does working and running make a person lame? Or is 30 old?

I picked my shift because I get to sleep in until 7:30, run at 8:30 and have time to relax, browse LetsRun and admire my medals.
I generally get up at 5AM because I am on the West Coast and I need to check the markets as soon as they open. When I was a HS soph I ran an XC invitational that gave trophies through 40th. The only running trophy of mine that my dad keeps in his office is my 37th place trophy from that meet. We both find it pretty funny to see a trophy that says "37th place winner" on it.
Well then TxR... you can't compare your starting late and working until 8pm to someone who starts work earlier in the day than you.
37th place is 37th place. No more, no less. Part of the problem with race places other than 1st is that the some media call Olympic 2nd placers, silver metal winners, and 3rd placers, bronze medal winners.
1995 here. 6 or 7 AM on weekdays, 9-10 o'clock on weekends unless I wake up for a morning workout-in which case, around 7.
Born 1987
I wake up whenever I wake up. Usually between 7:30 and 8. Sometimes later.
I woke up at 4:30 for six years in the Marine Corps. Nothing good happens that early.
