I ran in college...and we did 2 miles :P
I am liking the idea of a longer warm-up. What's odd is that most people I go to races with don't even like going that long, so I guess I'm just following the crowd. Another thing I have noticed is that I "cool off" very quickly, so I like to end my warm-up 15-20 minutes before I race (excluding strides). That's only because I need time to change into my singlet and race shoes. Before I workout, I don't like to go more than 5 minutes between my warm-up and the workout or I feel stale. I get frustrated when I do a workout with a group because everyone else likes to stand around for 20+ minutes it seems.
