Webb placed 8th in field of 60 in World Cup race in Mooloolaba finishing only about 18 seconds off first. Sprint distance event finished off with roughly a 14:46 5k. Good effort!

Actually placed 7th! Good field beat some quality triathletes. http://www.multisportaustralia.com.au/Home/QuickResults?clientId=1&raceId=1234&raceName=Mooloolaba%20ITU%20Triathlon%20World%20Cup
Got off the bike with the group and ran with the best.. top american and he gets valuable points to boost his rank.. split a swift 14:48 off the bike. most importantly, he almost got out of the water mid pack. a great result for him.
I told you fools he is ready NOW! I still think he will do better at a full oly distance, not a sprint. bet he didn't bungle his helmet strap this time..
Nice race Alan!
He had a bad T1 transition again.
He beat Jefferson by a lot... He was also the first American.
This race will help his world ranking...
Nobody ahead of him was ranked lower than him...
I'm assuming that Zaferes and Kanute used this race as a training run only... They both did a strong swim. Cycled with the pack and then jogged it in...
It doesn't look like it was only a training run for Jefferson however...

I'm guessing that he'll move up to somewhere between 120th and 125th...
It will give him a better bib number in his next World Cup event
3/4 of a mile from the finish he was running in 5th place and of the athletes that were assigned 55:38 he was third in that second suggesting he was outkicked.
Good result for Alan, but lets not get ahead of ourselves...the was a World Cup race, not a World Series race. The big boys would not be racing an event like this. The real test will be in a couple weeks in the WTS race- IF he can get out of the water with the 2nd pack and ride his way up, we'll see where his run will really put him against the best in the World. Beating guys like Billington and Kanute is a good thing for his prospects of getting an Olympic spot.
I highly doubt Kanute and Zafares used this as a training run...Zafares seemed pretty disappointed on Twitter after the race. He's not the strongest runner though (probably the best tri swimmer that the USA has though). I was surprised that Kanute ended up as low as he did. Jefferson generally seems out of contention at this level of racing. He was handled pretty easily by Maloy and Lagerstrom a few weeks back at the Tritonman season opener and I think he got off the bike with those guys.
Great result for Webb and boy did he ever need a great result after last week.
He tweeted - "Awesome 7th at #MooloolabaWC Def better than last week. Body surfing to finish swim was crazy. Looking forward to #newplymouthWC next week."
Webb has literally no chance of an olympic spot. 8th in an early season World Cup race means nothing. he would have to be in the top 3 Americans in multiple WTS races this year to even be in consideration for a spot. He's currently ranked 14th in the US.
Your opinion is an guess-assumption on your part. It has no value to anyone other than your inner-troll.
Good job for Alan.
I don't believe yet but maybe just maybe he has one fast one and he can uncork it at the Olympic finals instead of the trials this time.
Time it well Jedi.
Not bad, but these are pretty much jv guys in the itu world. He should have won this one.
I called this! Def a big step up! I heard Webb is a decent swimmer for a little guy. Cycling will improve with time and running is his bread and butter! You make money on the run

What are you talking about? Webb will be ranked in the top 10 Americans by Monday (even though he has zero points for the 2013-2014 period). He has beaten all the other top 10 Americans already, except for Shoemaker, Maloy and Kemper.
He is very close to being top 3 American already.
He will be racing against Maloy on the 22nd in NZ. We'll see how he does against him.
It's all about momentum for webb and maybe this will send momentum in the right direction.
I'm hoping for the best

Yeah right. Probably more like a 14:46 4.6k.
