SO THIS MEANS:
Webb is almost able to qualify at top 140 rankings for world. That is good.
Webb is 12th out of USA athletes competing for at most 3, but more likely 2 spots. That is bad.
Webb has till May 2016 to advance, there is NO way right now he is even in consideration other than as an experiment. Webb needs a LOT of improvement.
Kudos to Webb for doing so well without years of training at his new sport. Maybe a bit of hubris though for an athlete versed in training to believe he can advance against others without years of build up. Alan has never been without talent. The champion's circle does not admit entry on talent alone.
I wish Alan luck but it does not look good for him. It might be different if he was picking up 30 - 45 seconds over everyone on the run. In other words, stay in swim pack, stay in bike pack, hope leaders do not have sizable lead, and catch em on the run. But right now all 4 of those things are off the table.
Maybe he will have some breakthroughs, I hope so.
How does he support himself right now, out of curiosity? Got a wife, a kid, etc. I know he made coin, but that goes fast when the kids arrive.
