Hasay was visually annoyed/angry at Rowbury after the race and only put on a fake smile when Shannon was right in front of her face.
From Rowbury's interview it was clear that she was meant to share in the duties of setting the pace near the end, but she didn't citing "Hasay pushed the pace every time I tried." She never tried to go to the front once.
Sure, this is a race, and the first one across the line wins, but it is a low move to have a strategy decided with your teammate and not follow through. Even worse to kick past that teammate at the end then.
Editor's note: Here are post-race interviews with Hasay and Rowbury. Rowbury admitted she was supposed to lead a few laps:

Hasay seemed resigned to the fact Shannon was going to beat her no matter what:

Serious question: who?

Indeed, Rowbury is basically the John Dressel of women's track. -
When I'm in the lead, I'd rather not have anyone pass me at all.
However, if so, it is easy enough to get someone to pass you, but that doesn't mean the pace will be what you want. -
Thank god these ladies are classier than all of you bitchy little girls.
I read this thread before watching the races and interviews and didn't see anything that you gossips are extrapolating. -

Agree!
They're both so sexist when they're angry. -
I don't blame her for being pissed! Her coach Salazar wasn't even there! (cuddling rupp and cain back home) Jordan is well grounded and totally impressive! She is the ultimate role model for young runners. She is our future.
-
Jordan is not from LA Sh8Tards! She is San Luis Obispo area!
-
Jordan needs to dump Alberto and get a serious coach who has her best interest at heart. Seriously, we all know Alberto is only after those who produce immediate fame. Other than for Cain and Rupp, he can care less for the rest of his athletes. It's even more obvious with Centro who just one a national title and he wasn't even there. It's a shame.
-
It amazes me, the small smidgens of perceived misbehavior you folks seize upon to condemn quite admirable athletes who work hard, have the guts to out on a national stage and try and win, and then do so. You are a strange crew.
-
Perhaps Alberto has taken on more than his health will allow and he's pulling back! If he sends his athletes to run nationals you would think he would be there to support them?
-
I dunno about you guys, but the lipstick works for me. Yowzah!

Ireland (Rowbury) and Syria (Hasay) never warred on one another.
-
Trading off leading in a 2 is ridiculous. Hasay simply can't switch gears. Not strong enough.
-
Agree that Hasay didn't show that she was pissed. Nevertheless, although once sort of a fan of Rowbury, would like to see her taken down more and more. Esp after some of last year's races, e.g., the sit and kick and lane weaving last spring. Her interview was goofy too. Maybe it's just the lipstick but my internet feed kept locking up and freezing her face in these very weird expressions. Too much. Hasay gave a solid interview, but will wonder if she still has acne in 8-10 years.

one of the oddities of LRC is that so many men (probably they are men) seem to care so much about people magazine type issues among female runners.
It's like eavesdropping on a bunch of jr high school girls.
right now two of these threads are going on - this one and the oiselle thread.
well, carry on. -
but you responded...duh!

Hasay is pissed whenever she loses a race. She puts a lot of pressure on herself.

If Hasay is part-Syrian, why would they name her Jordan? -
Hasay didn't look "pissed" after the race to me, she just looked tired -- like a runner who wanted to win and gave it her all.
Several people on this thread are nutty. It's a freaking National
Championship, which means every racer for herself.
Besides, what if Rowbury had fallen? Hasay would have had to carry on the pace alone in that case anyway.
Both girls gave best-efforts across the last mile in my opinion. Good job to both. The disappointment in this race shouldn't come from Shannon or Jordan's actions, but from the other girls who couldn't keep up when Jordan started really pushing the pace.
Seriously, come on, guys! Stop with petty stuff and cheer for winners, damn it! -

unrelated, but what's up with rowbury's pink lipstick? it doesn't make her look elegant or hip. perhaps i'm wrong and she's intentionally going for the different or 'notice me' look, "i'm an awesome runner with a bland personality for the media?, but.... she looks like a freak.
i'm not being sexist here, look at it objectively. why pink lipstick in T&F?
