Bekele closed the last 3k of his 12:37 in about 7:31...
Mo has a long way to go before he can think about sniffing the 5k record.

I still doubt Mo can get the 5000m WR, we're talking about a 200m track WR to a 400m track WR, and given that the pace difference between Komen's 3000m WR and Bekele's 5000m WR is marginal (under 5s/km), Mo can at least try and threaten it.
Where is ventolin^3 when you need him?
Why don't you compare his 8:03 to the indoor 5k world record? Comparing it to the outdoor record doesn't make a lot of sense.

The person whose record he broke holds the 5000 WR indoors & outdoors.
Seems like Mo has a good shot to me.

Because Bekele definitely put equal effort and attention into the indoor 2mile and the outdoor 5000m

After all that has been written about him........... It's "Farah", not "Farrah".

Firstly, comparing the indoor 2 mile to the outdoor 5000 is a bad example anyways. Comparing it to the indoor 5000 record is more analogous.
Secondly, I never claimed what you sarcastically suggested.
Thirdly, I can claim the exact same thing for Mo as you just did for Bekele - that he will put more effort and attention into breaking the outdoor 5000.
I'll finish by saying I don't really care if Mo does get the record or if he doesn't. All I did was point out that the reasoning the OP used to justify his conclusion was bad reasoning.
Mo will not get the 5k record. It is far too strong for him.
Why does it matter? He's a double Olympic champion.

mo has not likely done any speedwork yet, but right now, in a "perfect" outdoor 3k, i get him in
~ 7'22
shape
he can shave secs off that when he's done some speedwork
5k is much more conjecture, but current outdoor 5k shape of maybe
~ 12'42.5 / 12'45
2 7:58.91 Daniel Komen KEN 17.05.76 1 Sydney 28.02.1998 - he has a long way to go, saw this from the back straight opposite the finish line, a few bears and fridges fell on Komen over the last 200 to 300 metres. He had no reason to run that fast on that occasion except that it had been talked up as a World Record attempt at least by the promoters. Astonishing.

Just shows how soft the "world record" he went for is. Indoor two-mile LOL.
The 3000 equivalent time has been bettered over 10 times!

Everyone knows his golds came against the most watered-down competition ever seen in the event. Including Mo.
He couldn't even win a truly competitive road 10k or half marathon with his ability. (60:00 PR LOL.)
Putting down some fast times, if he even could, would raise his stature from "weakest winner" to something worth remembering.

You can claim anything. That doesn't mean it is logical or correct though. That statement makes sense for Bekele. It does not for Farah.
Farah's time is nearly 4s per km faster than Bekele's 5K world indoor record.

a. That's irrelevant
b. it's totally false
Every event in 1980 and 1984 was watered down.

A. It is relevant because you are trying to use it to support your statement.
B. It is true in recent history (since at least 1990). Maybe even 80/84 but I'd have to look at the entries.

Even ignoring 1980 and '84, the Olympic 5k was not watered down.

Who said we were talking about the 5k??? And yes, the 5k was watered down a bit (not nearly as much as the 10k though).
please state specifically who should have been in he Olympic 5000 or 10000m to not make it watered down. Who 'skipped' winning a gold medal. No doubt, Bekele, Gen and Tergat were better in their primes but Mo can only race who is around now.
Again - name the runner who had the Olympic 10000 gold but opted not to run.

RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
