20 meter gap
20 meter gap
Negesse takes off. Chamba doesn't seem to have enough to hang on.
Negesse has 2 seconds around the right hander. Chumba not forcing it anymore, eyes up though. Negesse still checking his shoulder.
Chumba isn't done, but Negesse looks like he has another match to burn.
Negesse is making another attempt. He's got 3 seconds or so on Chumba and looks very good but we can't say it's over yet. 2+km to go.
40 meter gap
2k remaining
40k through in 1:59:20, so a 14:25ish last 5k for Negesse
Negesse going strong, Chumba fading in second and Kiprotich a clear third.
Bad math, 14:32. 1 and 2 have been decided. Kiprotich looking set for third, assuming Chumba holds on.
Negesse running easily ~ huge gap to Chumba
No coverage of the women at this point

Chumba anakaa kama amechoka. Simuoni akishinda hii.
Jamaa anakaa amechoka.
He needs to safeguard second position. Kiprotich isn't very far off.
Negesse on track for a big chunk off his 2:08:32 PR.
Kiprotich may knock some seconds off his 2:07 as well
Barring injury or something crazy it's Negesse's now.
He had run fast in Dubai before this but that is it.
Chumba and Kiprotich 2-3. WMM is a one year+ competition starting this year (it starts today in tokyo and ends a year later in Tokyo with your 2 best races counting) so they'll want to preserve those spots, but you may need 2 wins in a year to win it.
That 14:34 5k was the fastest of the race but this will be a 2:05 winner.
13 second count-back between Chumba and Kiprotich with 800 to go. Not insurmountable..
Keep your eyes open

It's amazing to me how the top4 guys look like they are just jogging
You got that right. Negesse looks ridiculous. You guys think he's on something? Shouldn't you be tired at the end of a marathon?
the hammer is down. it's over.
Negesse is under 2:06, just barely by the looks.
Kiprotich kicks!!!!!! Great fight!
Negesse 2:05:59 unofficial
kiprotich 2:06:30
chumba 2:06:32
Negesse wins in about 2:06:00. Chumba fizzled and got taken by Kiprotich on the line. Masata Imai PB of 2:07:38ish ahead of Kebede.
