I'm not going to comment on the doping claims here about a guy who runs 3:28.81 late in his career at a different event and then runs 8:03 in his first indoor race of the season at 31 years old. This is a very good performance. He targeted an easier record than the indoor 3k, but at least he targeted a world record, rather than just an easier British record (though he'd lowered expectations). If Mo wants to be in the conversation for the best middle distance runners of all time, he has got to continue the record hunt. This was a good start. Let's see him after this rust-buster (!) get after maybe a tougher indoor record and then and more importantly get after the 3k/5k/10k records. He doesn't need to break them all, but one or two outdoor world records and getting close to that Komen record of 7:20 would be huge for him. I hope he does it. It is boring when no one is within ten or fifteen seconds of the records.
