I could explain this to you thoroughly, but unless I make you think critically about it and come to your own conclusion then you won't learn anything.

It's indoor season and on top of that there's not even a world indoor champs this year
This is Alberto's experimental training phase
He doesn't necessarily care too much about PR's, but how his athletes respond to the training, so he can fix what needs to be fixed for the outdoor season training phase, 2015 World Championships is the goal here

So what did he learn in this experimental training phase?

You mean it is cross country season and the worlds top 10k runners should be gearing up for world xc, right??

considering the seemingly inhuman ability both Rupp and Levins have shown in the past in being able to withstand intense training, and then thrive off it.
Galen Rupp runs 0 miles on the road or track. He runs on a zero-grav or underwater treadmill while EPO is simutaneously mainlined into his bloodstream like he's freaking Vincent Vega. He is as brittle as, well, brittle.

Have you spent many long and hard hours practicing how to be a dick? Or is it something that just comes naturally to you? Believe me, you really have it perfected.
10/10
Yes, of course.
This is why every high school or college athlete who has ever doubled then proceeded to run terribly the next meet.
I get why people think Salazar's a prick, but this thread is just sad.
Watching Levins and Cain at Millrose, I'm beginning to think that they are overtrained--with art imitating Salazar's own running life.

I was pretty sure you were talking out of your ass again. Thanks for proving me right.

I didn't say it to be a dick. I said it because I've seen enough of your posts to know you are smart enough to know a number of reasons why someone would want to race other than to try to run fast while fresh. Feel free to tell me I'm wrong and if so I'll walk everyone through possible reasons.

It's funny how dumb some people are. Levins has a great race and then a sub-par one and the sky is falling.

Go for it!

Don't forget that Levins did a workout after that double. You'd think the greatest single day mile/2M would have been enough.
Is he trying to burn him out the same as he has done with Rupp? Salazar did great with Rupp and Mo but he seems to have let success go to his head. Double are for college kids and even then I hate them as you should put your abilities in one race not dilute them in two. As for workouts after a race ridiculous

Of course I have some ideas why he was racing. But I was asking you for your ideas. It's called a discussion. Instead you choose to insult. The logical conclusion is that you don't have anything meaningful to say. You are welcome to attempt to change that perception.
Fine lets walk through some potential reasons:
1) To gain experience racing
2) To work on fitness
3) To practice closing fast
4) To practice starting fast
5) To practice surging
6) To run a fast time despite not being fresh
7) Money/Contractual obligations
8) Some stupid plan pertaining to something Galen is doing
9) To get a feel for running multiple races to help simulate rounds at a championship event

He didn't have a bug. Al Sal's guys don't race with bugs or during a season in which they had a bug.

Of course, it's also possible he could've just had aa bit of a bug, too.
My idea is that the pace was a sort of limbo for Cam. He came through the mile in 4:17. Let's say his ideal 5k pace is 4:10/mile, and his ideal 10k pace is 4:24/mile. I've been there (not 4:17 pace, but hopefully you can commiserate). You feel just as tired coming through the mile 7 seconds off your 5k pace. It's not like you're walking. Plus, you've got the psychological burden of feeling tired at a pace slower than your race pace. It can add up to create a bad day if you're even slightly off.
Although this wouldn't really explain his 8:15 deuce.
