It seems like Aman has been around for a long time but he reportedly just turned 21 in January. If that is accurate then he could be a major contender in the 800 for several more years.

I'd guess that he wants 1) improved facilities and 2) a guaranteed contract. A multi-year contract is good insurance against injuries, and I bet the OTC weightlifting/therapeutic facilities are a big step up.
What facilities, besides Stevenson Track, does OTC use?
The Cassanova Center?
Hayward field's weight room?

Maybe U of O can get him for a fifth year of eligibility?
The pollution in Ethiopia is horrible, good move.
Ethiopia aren't known for 800m runners apart from Aman so maybe the coaching and training partners are better in the US than Ethopia. Aman has already spent time in the US over the last few years so this could have contributed to his success so far.

Maybe it's all about Mo AMan helping OTC athletes
Maybe Nike thinks Greer is a future medal contender. They've already been investing in him, and he's close to Symmond's (and ahead of Solomon's) time at this stage of his career.
Not sure why people are overlooking the fact that OTC is pretty deep. Aman will be the best, for sure; he will however have plenty of training partners that aren't a world away from his level:
1:44/3:30 - Wheating
1:45 - Abda
1:44 - Mulder
1:44.9 - Greer
46.3 from college/1:44 - Jock
plus a slew of 1500 guys that are under 3:55 for a mile. seems like a good environment. It worked for Symmonds when he was training with guys slower than him.

This Aman news is huge. Great pickup for OTC.
It helps the club. The club has a world beater now that people can pull for. As for the current athletes, Mo is way better than them so they can only get better by being around him, working out with him, and seeing he puts on foot in front of the other just like them (but slightly quicker).
But what is Stevenson Track? I always figured OTC had run of the facilities at Hayward Field. Is that not the case?
Thinking about it, there might not be time for a pro group and a big college to share a track.

The track on the inside of Hayward Field is Stevenson Track.
Tracks are usually on the outside of the field.
I see otc peeps at Eugene South's track on a weekly basis. My apartment living room backs up to the backstretch, and jmac, wheating, etc sightings are common. Saw centrowitz there a few weeks ago.
Aman, take your drugs and go back where you came from!!
Calling it right now: In 5 years or less he's going to pull a Lagat and begin becoming a U.S. citizen.
