Happened in the 80's . A family in MN I think? The article showed the dad wondering where the 4 year old was in a 5k. The kid was crying running to the finish, and all the dad could say was how terrible his times was. I think he had a daughter that broked 2:40 for the marathon at age 11

Similarly, my oldest son ran some 5 km races when he was nine . He ran on his school's cross country and track teams from seventh grade until college graduation and is still at it today in his early thirties. I don't understand why so many people who profess to enjoy running think it's a good idea to discourage kids from doing it.
