Actually, Brad Hudson held the Vanny h.s. c.r.. at the time.
The article doesn't say Trautmann broke the course record, but Salazar's meet record.
jjjjjj, you know your stuff. You must be from Orange or Rockland. I'll add a few things. 4:11 in 10th grade. 1:51 in 11th grade. The 14:35 was at the state meet his junior year and he beat the old course record by 35 seconds and destroyed everyone including pre race favorite Ron Markezich. I feel the 5000 was always his best event and what set him apart in that event was he had a gear toward the end of the race that very few could match. More importantly he's one of the coolest guys you'll ever meet.
I'd like to know how he's training for these races.
Going out and running 10ks/half/marathons is fun in its own way, but I think it would be exciting to get back to racing a mile and I'm curious how one of the best is doing it.
Gags is involved in coaching him again.
Great pic from last year: http://postimg.org/image/alzfzj9hp/
This is a workout he did last month.
1x1200 in 3:15-jog 3 min-1x800 in sub 2:10-jog 10 min-3x400 in 64-62-60 with 3 min jog between. Other than this I don't know of any specific workouts. I can ask if he's willing to give a little insight to what he's doing.
Wasn't a bad track, really. 300 yards to the lap, nice straight to turn ratio, good warm up space upstairs. Lots of fast times on that track back in the day.
You're right. I shouldn't have called it crappy. I didn't particularly like it as I got terrible traction in my flats on it (I believe no spikes were allowed but I could be wrong) but fast times were had.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
