I say Ryan Hall - he jumped into longer distances earlier and basically was coached by God who is not really the greatest runner of the 80's. Hall has unnatural talent. I'm awed.

Galen Rupp does seem like a test tube with legs, whereas Ryan Hall is a chillax nature boy
Watch this video and tell me Ryan Hall doesn't have immense talent.
(8 mile tempo, then hills, then 2 miles. First mile of tempo 4:18)
Hall was 3:42 1500m in high school vs rupp 4:01 or 02 mile right?
How does 59:43 and 2:06:17 compare with rupp's shorter distance PRs? If galen runs the marathon could he beat that?
Right now they run different events, its hard to compare "talent"
Rupp is better trained.
Hall has more natural talent.
but it be like dat wrote:
Rupp is better medicated.

The Iaaf scoring tables on page 94 (2014) list a 26:44 worth 1262 points, 1262 points in the half marathon and marathon would be 58:22 (world record) and 2:04.31
Though if you watched Rupp run his 26:44 he could have run much faster.
Hall has a God-given talent. Rupp is a pharmaceutical product.

Nobody care what you did as a junior once you are a senior.

Not really when one is an Olympic silver medallist
Also Rupp is the 15th fastest runner ever over 10,000m
Halll is 65th fastest over half!
I'm sure Rupp could beat 59:43 is he ran it regularly and trained for it. Hall could never go sub 27/13
You don't know, don't believe you are a part of the off the medical staff or Rupp.
Or are you??
Mabye he uses and mabye he doesn't, you just don't know.
He is the most tested athlete in the United States, so don't say you know he is cheating. Or using other pharmaceuticals, because your not his doctor, coach or anyone else close too him.

Yeah, now that Lance is out of the business, Rupp is probably the most tested.
your idiots !!!!
not even in the same league
Rupp x100
hall is a top end pack placer !
where is his Olympic medal or world #1 ????

Rupp had a world #1 in an event that was only run once or twice the entire year, so it is not that significant.
Also, Hall's competition in the marathon and half marathon are in a different league than Rupp's competition. World records keep being broken in the marathon. When's the last time someone other than Bekele attempted a world record in the 10k?
Hall's performances are much more impressive I think. He hasn't had a personal superstar coach with the backing and gadetry of a billion company starting in high school. Given that opportunity, I'm sure Hall would have run much faster by now.

Looks like we've got another hot take from somebody in the know. Please help all of us peasants out by providing your evidence. I won't spend much time waiting.

Rupp also has a lack of 10km races then. Until last 5 years 10km was run at most meets. Rupp is top 15 including the most competive era at the distance 90's 00's. 5/10km takes more raw talent as well as you can only train so much to improve speed

It is clear then that there is something seriously amiss with the iaaf scoring tables.

What??? You can train endurance just as much as speed. Your statement doesn't even make sense pretending it is correct. If speed isn't trainable, then speed events would require the most rawly talented.
I'd rather have Hall's physical talent than Rupp's. But Hall's a head case. You may not like Rupp but he's got the mental abilities to stay with one coach and progress slowly over a decade while staying mostly injury free.

What is the obsession on here with progressing slowly??

rupp has the same mental ability as a carrot. rupp had to drop out of oregon clown kollege because it was too difficult for his mental ability. That is the perfect athlete for a coach like sleazy sal; don't think, don't question, guzzle whatever juice you are handed. Hall is a Stanford graduate.
