That's not really what I said. Anyway...
Ryan did beat Galen right after his HM record, as Galen was recovering from his hyperthyroid ailment. Galen went on to win the "bigger" Stanford 10000m a month later. So while you are right in that Ryan would win the moment he ran the AR, as Rupp was sick, you are not right that he was a superior 10000m runner that season.
