It's great to see Levins hit the next level. Instead of focusing on Rupp, I'd ask what this means in comparison to other Nike elites. Is Cam better than Jerry's group? Derrick has been great but is Levins going to be better than him or Jager?
I think Rupp had a bad day and Cam had a superb day. Both seemed classy afterward. It's hard to know what it means come August - I am not worried about Rupp yet but there is promise that Levins could get in the mix.
CAM LEVINS FINALLY BEATS RUPP!!!

I heard Al Sal already filed a protest saying that Levins bumped Rupp. But withdrew when he found out that Levins was one of his athletes.

AlSal has Levins as a b-squad member. AlSal only work directly with the a-squad. Lesser NOPers manage the b-team.

Wrong, Al Sal overlooks Levins directly who dies much training with Rupp, moron! -
I see what you did there...ha

Rupp lost a 5K like 2 weeks before he ran the AR in the 10000m, where he basically was able to double that 5000m time he ran. Obviously I'm sure he wanted to win today, but I still have the theory that he wants something special to happen at Millrose, and is just training through this.
I'll still put him for sub 13 at millrose and this was just a rust buster. If he lost millrose I think that means there was a problem
This might be true, however Rupp was huffin and puffin with ~3 laps to go while Cam was gliding. -

Not good for Cam's future...how long before Salazar makes him leave? Can't be beating the poster boy. Just ask Ciaran.
This is comical at best. Ciaran has never been a threat to Rupp at 5k or 10k. -
This made me smile real big!!! Typo is such an overrated hack. Take that Oregon fanboys!!!!! Hahaahahahahahah!!!!!!!!

He def could have run quicker if he focused on either race. Is there a WR for mile/2-mile-in-one-meet?
Or with better pacing in the mile. 1:57 @809m, 2:59 @1209, 3:54@1609? -

I'm surprised Salazar didn't have Blankenship DQed for stepping inside on the final bend. That would suit his dirtbag M.O. -

LOL who is an "A" member based on today's results?
Just Rupp and Hasay? -

LOL if Rupp is training through, Levins is, too. If Rupp is tapering so is Levins.
Don't you get it?
What are we supposed to get? Do you really think Levins is the better runner and this is a passing of the torch?
He was the better runner on the day. -

Um, do you have trouble with ready comprehension?
The assertion that Rupp is just training through, and that this explains his loss to a training partner, is idiotic. Get it?
Now go away. -

I laughed out loud at this post.
Levins is a beast, displaying the benefits from that huge aerobic base he developed from those 180 mile weeks in college, the intense interval workouts with Rupp and Centrowitz (and sometimes Farah), and the running form improvements instituted by Salazar. I'm sure he put a big scare into his fellow 5K and 10K medal contenders with that amazing double last night. -

Levins is not training through anything on the same level as Rupp at the moment. lol
Cam is going to do some great things, but obviously with the flip flopping before the meet in terms of what Rupp was going for, something was not right with him. It's not a big deal. All the JEALOUS 5 minute milers on the board, which is 95% of letsrun posters always seek to take down Rupp, as they did Webb, as they do anyone who has shown some guts when it comes to mixing it up with the best in the world. Guts they don't have, which is a huge reason most letsrun posters are shi**y runners. lol -
Could be Rupp looks at his last two indoor seasons, and decides to save his big peak of the year for outdoors. Eyeing a 10,000 gold for worlds and a 5,000 medal over running fast indoors seems smart to me.

Funny, because he put out a press release two weeks ago saying he'd be going for a WR.
Must have been a rough two weeks. -

Very smart, yes.
The 10,000 has been piss-weak for YEARS, with the world's best distance runners not getting decently paid to run it (with ++++$$$$ on the roads meanwhile) and therefore TRUE ELITES are totally uninterested in the event.
Thus, it is Rupp's best chance at his FIRST EVER major international WIN. -

It might have been a rough week or two for Rupp. He also planned to double at one time and recently called off his record attempt asking for a 4:12 first mile.
Good for Levins. He's going to be a beast over the next 2 years and beyond.
