Well Berry shouldn't make much of a difference. We have a good idea where Centro is opening up with his great double. We'll assume since Salazar set this meet up, that he's gonna be ready to put down a great time and I know where another one of the two is exactly at. Just going with 3 out of the 4 are at also hoping for the best with great nationally televised competition.

DMR would be exciting if the order was 1600-1200-800-400. Then people would try harder in the longer legs, especially teams who have distance as their strong suit, but are weaker with the sprints.

I no longer enjoy watching the DMR at Penn Relays because EVERY TIME the 1600m runners always group back together and jog a few 60-62 second laps together. It completely disrespects the effort of the other teammates, trying to give the team a lead as much as possible. And it's boring as hell to watch.

If the DMR was a race where people tried to increase their lead in every single leg, ending with a huge sprint finish, it would be very exciting.

I'm thinking that someone that can average under 59 per 400 and do 7.5 of them with no rest could do an extra 2.5 getting a 30sec rest. As could all those 7:30 and under 3k runners.

Never doubt Pat Casey. He ran his 3:59 on February 4th in Bozeman. His altitude adjusted time was 3:54.xx.

And if you think that altitude adjusted times account for nothing, you have obviously never ran at altitude.

Actually, I did train and race at 7000 feet for a few years. How bout you?

I hope they get it. The challenge will be can they all hit on the same day against a good team from Kenya? I have no idea where people are in their training, health, race experience this season etc... but when people start throwing around WR talk with opening races for the season, I'd like to see it. It won't be long now before the talking has to stop and the rubber better meet the road.

So you think all 4 will run right around what their bests would be right now on the same day? I'm assuming that is an optimistic assumption but haven't thought about it much. It is amazing how in track the favorite wins most of the time so maybe that means that pros in a time trial situation can run close to their max that day most of the time. Haven't though about it too much but I'm assuming someone will have an off day. Good thing is they 8 seconds to work with to still get the record but they have to win the race as well.
