Parker is a joke
For a joke, Parker Stinson did pretty damn well at last year's NCAA Outdoor championships. Sure he's a joke...an All-American joke that is. Jealously is an unbecoming trait.
Would've liked to see craig Lutz get out there and shake it up.
Nope on the sub-13:30. But Oregon DOMINATED!!!!!
Will Buffs get 4 under 13:45 this season (you can make the assumption for Mr. Ed)?
Unbelievable the talent that Oregon assembles. Of Jenkins, Stinson, Geoghegan, and Elkaim (13:31/13:38/13:43/14:20), only Jenkins ran NCAA XC champs, and Elkaim has run a lot faster at 5000m than this. It's only worth noting that Kebenei (13:48), fourth here behind three Oregon guys, none of them named Cheserek, was 6th overall at NCAA xc this year.
Oregon definitely put on a clinic. Trevor Dunbar paced them through the 2-mile at about 8:58, then stepped off to let Jenkins take over. At this point it was a 5-man race, but Elkaim was soon dropped. Jenkins kept applying the pressure and the remaining three were peeled off in order. Stinson was still within striking distance with a 1-1/2 laps to go, but Jenkins seemed to have 13:30 on his mind as he buried Stinson in the final 500m. He broke Alistair Cragg's Fieldhouse record (set in '04) by over 11 seconds. It was impressive to watch.

The joke's in your pants. I saw the race, and Stinson ran a damn tough one.

Who is the best guy ever at NE?
What's up with Elkaim? Ran amazing his sophomore year with 13:38/3:59 but nothing since.

Uhm, just some guy named Bruce Bickford, who ranked #1 in the world in the 10,000 in '85.
Man. I was there. The announcer announced 8:55 at two miles. That's a 4:03 last mile folks. So Stinson blisters a 4:10 last mile and gets left. That was one serious last mile. They dropped a 3:58 miler (Geoghegan) and one of the best XC runners in the country like hot potatoes.
Eric nadeau was pretty good too.
Jenkins was the best of them all while in college though.

I wasn't there but your arithmetic doesn't add up. 13.31.76 with a fast finish the last .107 will go in 28 seconds. If they were 8:55 at 2 miles, third mile would have been 4:08-ish to get them through 3 in 13;03.

Yeah, but for the LAST MILE, you drop the 3200-3400 split, sub in 28-30 sec, and it's more like 4:04-4:06
Rojo, surprised you didn't know this one. Bruce Bickford ranked number 1 in the world in 1985, and ran in the Seoul Olympics. Jenkins ran very fast mile/3k/5k while still at Northeastern, so you could make a valid argument.
Northeastern used to have very good runners back in the day (Bickford/ Brad Schlapak/ Eric Ned).
It's too bad they change coaches every other week, as they had the nucleus of a great team a few years back, but all the guys (Jenkins/Doyle/Gallagher) transferred.
