The fastest Local guy we have in the DFW right now that I know of is Colby Lowe. Although im not sure in recent years how much he is running competitevely.

Harry Green walked on at univ of Texas and ran like 28:15 3 years in row to lead NCAA in 1980s - Patrick Sang - also at UT - had like 8:00 best in steeple - Rice guy Mike Novelli still hold Rice 5k record - maybe 13:35-ish from like 40 years ago
Didn't the Hausers run decent 5ks though milers
Jerry Lawson ran 2:10 of Austin but I think transplanted.

Yes
Hauser's are also good to add to Reina, Culpepper. Still not as much success as a state that large should warrant.
Rice coach one of select few to go sub-4 and sub-2:15
Especially those U of H guys. Not sure why Magness gets so much publicity/credibility...
One UTEP team - '79 or '82 I think had 3 guys run like 27:36 - which until recently was like top 5 of all time - and same team had other runners even better later

These are the best runners out of TX. 1500 to Marathon.
The climate is not good for distance running in TX and most of the best athletes are ball players Football, Baseball, and Basketball.
Todd Harbour played Baseball in H.S. and ran track for port Isabel High school.
He may have played football and basketball too. He was known to be an all around athlete.
Steve Magness ran 4:01 in High School.
I certainly didn't (and wouldn't) say they suck at the 1500/mile, I said they suck at distance running.
Yeah, Reed Conner sucks. Just ask the rest of the Big 10.

Seriously, I was looking over the US list for 5000m and I stopped at the 35th fastest US runner ever over 5000m and still hadn't seen a Texan. It's the 2nd most populous state in the US! Why can't they run well for 5k and up? Who is the best distance runner from there?
By that token, Americans suck a distance running. African teenagers smoke our best American Born D guys.
True Story.

No clue. I thought Texans could cover TWICE the difference since everything is BIG in Texas...;)
