Oh I don't care what you say at all, especially about me. You don't know me and your opinion of me or others matters not at all. I do rowing, skiing, cycling and running races still and I am way over 22.
I am just surprised that anyone in America takes a dim view of a 25 year old running a track race, I just don't get that. Especially someone who (by your presence here) alleges to enjoy running?
I can really tell that you don't care what I say based on your responses.
In all seriousness, I am 27, non-elite, and have run in track races since college. If you look at the context of the post that got you all riled up, you will see that I had just been corrected on a blatant mistake (I stated that masters T and F began at 35). Anyways...

You lost all credibility when you decided to include "lol" in your title.

To clarify, in Britain Masters are called Veterans just like ex-servicemen and classic cars.
And most of Europe too. It needed an American marketing man to take the image of beaten-up, craggy unfashionable tough guys in 70s clothing, and replace it with the rebranded, dentally-perfect, blow-dried, tanned "Masters".
Anyone who takes vets races seriously below 40, male or female, is a bit suspect. There are always some world class people in their late 40s. Jack Foster, Carlos Lopes, Lagat, Geb - heck, even Jo Pavey.
So there are big man and old man divisions, is there a lazy man's division? You know for people who don't really care, don't train and suck? It could be lame people running as hard as they can against the clock and they are rewarded on how hard they tried. Maybe use a heart rate monitor and first one to almost have a cardiac arrest without injury wins?
I guess that makes me adorkable. I love running track.

Also, the USATF Masters Outdoor Championship has age divisions that start at 30.
30? Who knew? More importantly, who cares? Anyone still competing on the track beyond college (excepting elites) is a dork.
What an arbitrary and circular statement.
I say anybody still competing on the track or XC beyond age 17 (excepting elites) is a dork.
I hope so too. Robert Roose Boston Burlington

Basically that's what 90% of what US road races are about. Where you been for the past 15 years?
It's al about the finisher medal and goody bag anymore.

I seriously thought it did start at 40 but then again I never really cared a race is a race who ever crosses the finish line first wins young or old.
In fact I find the whole age grading thing to be a joke and have never even bothered to pay attention to it when it's offered in race results.
I am 51.
Okay hotshot, what's your best 10K? And best in the past two years.

I think Americans would feel the term "veterans" for runners would be disrespectful to military veterans.
