I think anything over 8 minutes would be a big disappointment. However not sure he goes much lower.

I bet it's more like 8:20.
I agree. After his beer mile performance, I think 8:20 sounds reasonable.
Didn't he blow his knee out last year running indoors and swear indoors off forever?

That is what I thought. Who says he is raving indoors? And when, supposedly?
Where did you even get this information from?
There is always fresh graffiti painted on the walls under the bridge.
It's known as the Troll Taggers Network News Report.

assuming he's in about 1:46 shape at that time, i'll say around 8:03.
the real question is what would jeremy wariner run in the 3k? i'd say about 9:06.
better chance of wariner breaking 9:00 or symmonds breaking 8:00?
What kind of unmarked, non regulation shape track is that?

I too remember him making a big deal out of "retiring" from indoor track.
The evidence, about 30 seconds in:
http://www.flotrack.org/coverage/251439-2014-IAAF-World-Indoor-Track-and-Field-Championships/video/738028-Nick-Symmonds-Announces-Retirement-from-Indoorsub-10:00 . . . you heard it here first!
Symmonds is a big 'ole boy - anything in the 8:10-15 range would be solid. He has too much muscle mass for races above the 1500 m. It will be a good strength workout for him.
So I think Jeremy Wariner moving to 800m will be very interesting and I'm optimistic to him surprising some people.
But the 400-to-800 move is still a fast-to-fast transition. 800-to-3k (or I'll even say 1500-to-3000) is a fast-to-endurance transition. NS ran 3:34.5 but a 3000m is a completely different gear. I hope he does well and I'm excited to see how it turns out.
Also, depending on whether you believe wikipedia:
JW: 6' 150lbs (age: 30)
NS: 5'10" 165lbs (age: 31)
This is unbelievable - the world-class sprinter is 15lbs lighter than the world-class mid-distance runner.
A cheetah is lighter than a zebra.

It's not unbelievable if you bothered to pay attention in physics class.

Yeah, he's too blocky. Good workout for him though.

I'm surprised he's running indoors, too. UW has a larger track though. Maybe that's why he thinks it's OK. Let's see if he does a full campaign or not.
This sounds like endurance work for the 1500. Didn't he say he wanted to double at the Olympics in 2016? He's probably getting accustomed to running longer distances.
Oops forgot a prediction. 8:08!
