He ran a 2:22 1000m at The Armory today as well during the Gotham Cup. Looked smooth as hell doing it too.

I was there this night, I can say that he burried the entire field in the first lap and was alone the entire time. He also was lapping people with around 2 laps to go so he could have gone even faster. Was awesome.
this is really an absurd performance. solo 3:56 with the negative splits the entire way...while lapping people...in january....5-6 years after his best seasons.
as a master's athlete i really want to believe, but it seems at least a little questionable.
questioning performances like this just comes with the territory, i'm sure pablo is used to it.
I'm actually surprised Mexico doesn't have more guys doing this, considering that EVERY PED is available OTC from La Farmacia in every city.
Relax people. 3:56.8 indoors is a good run indoors, but not strange enough for a former 3:36 guy who has had a good fall of training.
And the reason he went to the Armory is obvious. He wanted to get world standard and you can't do that on the U of W track.

The point is that this performance was only 3 seconds off of his best ever, and he ran it solo, which would indicate he could have set a new PR if he had been in the right race. Granted, hes only 30 and has stayed in pretty useful shape the past several years.
It's really an inspiring performance to me, yet at the same time if it turned out he was on the junk my reaction would be, "duh."

You can't come to that conclusion unless you know his splits. Were they even or spread out?

The 400 meter splits are known and even:

2:00.247 (29.939)
2:29.807 (29.561)
2:58.954 (29.147)
3:28.028 (29.075)

Doesn't seem to be a problem, given the few number of Mexican athletes getting busted for PEDs.
I'm surprised so many American athletes get busted even though the country makes those drugs hard to get. Maybe the threat of jail time could curb the amount of PEDs American athletes use. Nah, cheaters gonna cheat no matter what you do.
