I'm a fan, although I haven't (to be honest) paid much attention to Wariner for the last 5 years. But I went to YouTube, put in "Jeremy Wariner best," and found his WC race in Osaka, 2007. There's a long prelude to the race before the race itself gets underway around 4:30
Impressions:
1) JW has "it," whatever "it" is. He's got the mojo. Just walking around. He's got whatever it is. And he may be the only white guy I've ever seen who actually has that.
2) His race, a 43.45, is the most absurdly effortless win I believe I've ever seen. I remember him as having always had a smooth stride, but this is something else. Watch the race. For the entire last 100, he actually appears to be coasting. Backing OFF the pedal. Yet he pulls ahead.
That is fearsome. Awe-inspiring.
Best of luck to him in the 800. I hope he's still got enough of It to surprise us.
