I just had the lunch from hell. I met up for lunch with a couple of friends I used to run with in college - one guy now does cross-fit and the other does triathlons. Obviously they both volunteered their new found sport of choice without prompting. Guess who was more irritating?
It was a trick question. It was impossible to pick who I wanted to kill more.
(1) The paleo cross-fit guy ate a burger without a bun and put butter on his burger - yeah, asked for butter, coated his burger in butter? How is that healthy? But trust me, he insisted he was the healthiest man alive.
(2) Mr . triathlon - everything has to be organic or "good for you" as defined by him. I had a plastic water bottle, which entitled him to lecture me on bisphenols.
But, while they disagreed on most things, the common ground between them, and 45 minutes of my life I'll never get back - high fructose corn syrup is the cause of obesity. Yes, actually is the cause of the obesity epidemic. Not genetics, not lack of exercise, not even excessive calories - it's the high fructose corn syrup.
You heard it here first. I'm sure once the news gets around the world will quickly become thin.
