Can you give them (let's say) $50 cash for 5 months and be done with it, or do they insist upon an auto bill setup?
I have heard some gyms are tough to quit. I'd say not just no but f-no to any biz that required bank acct access for recurring charges.
Not clear to me how pf works but if the former, it's clearly a good deal.
I've never heard of a gym that didn't require an auto-bill setup. Not only auto-bill, but they require access to your bank account rather than charge your credit card.
When I signed up for PF I asked how easy it was to cancel. I made it very clear that I had just moved to the city, was living in temporary housing, and would likely be living in a completely different part of town within a month. They told me I could easily just go online and cancel at any time before the next charge date. WRONG. I learned three things when I tried to cancel.
1. You cannot cancel within 90 days of signup regardless of the no commitment membership.
2. You must give 30 days notice of your cancellation.
3. You must cancel in person or mail a notarized letter.
I moved to a different part of town within 4 weeks, making it an inconvenience to go there. Since it was only $10 per month I didn't drive out there to cancel. I was waiting until I had to conveniently run an errand out there. I probably spent about $50-$60 for the one month of gym use.
