Not sure how I didn't hear about this guy this summer.
Pretty studly.
Not bad, not bad at all particularly for a white boy.

Nice time, of course the Bolt comparison is a bit much, as Bolt ran 19.93 at that age. Is this kid really the second best ever at 17? Maybe, I coulda sworn some US kid was faster.
Ah he is white. That's very important. If he was black nobody would give a damn. But because he is white he is special.

That line of thinking is also why everyone got so overly excited for Jeremy Lin when he had one good season in the NBA, despite the fact that legions of black players were better. And why so many colleges fight for the chance to matriculate a black student with a 29 ACT, despite the fact that legions of Asians and whites scored better.
looks like he's 20. short legs. I'll say his PR will wind up being 20.15

Actually, Roy Martin, out of Dallas, had only been 18 for a few months when he set his still-standing Prep national record of 20.13. Incidentally, he only improved on his high school time by 0.08 seconds.

He finished 7th in the World Juniors. But try to find a thread on any of the runners who beat him

So maybe, just maybe this is the reason black people have a point about racism. You use a handle that only white people who hated Ali would continue to use after he legally changed his name.
You point out a runner who is white as the great white hope.
You should be ashamed of yourself.
This is not how real track and field athletes and fans treat people. You have no class.
Yet another reason that LRC needs to register all posters.
Disgraceful and being disrespectful of others should not be tolerated on here.
And I am serious. This kind of crap needs to be taken off the site.
maybe this kids an albino Jamaican

Thanks! It was Trentavis Friday I was thinking of, though. Of course he was 18 as well when he ran 20.04 (and 10.00!). I'm not sure how many months into 18 he was (by chance does anyone know of Friday is running indoors for FSU?)

though the Knicks have never recovered since letting him go. maybe there was something to Lin-sanity
Wasn't there a kid from Australia or New Zealand who made a splash a year or two ago?

Is "Prep" just fancy-talk for "high school"?
Must it be capitalised?
You ought to reread your post. You're worse than the people you are criticizing!!
bolt was still 17 in 2004 (born 8/2x/1986) when he ran 45.35 400m in April and later when he ran 19.93. He was not quite 17 when he ran 20.13 in 2003. The Brit's obviously not this kind of prospect.
doesn't matter. the REAL great white hope Devon Allen tore his knee up today, all is lost!!!!
Course was short. He ran equivalent to a 23.80
Say it with me: "One Mississippi." That's how much time he's behind world-class runners.

So? A lot of guys have fully physically matured by age 17. Look at all the high school guys with full beards and chest hair.
Way too much confidence is placed in people who achieve a lot at a young age. The fact is that most child prodigies don't go on to accomplish much more. Are you also intrigued by the 5-yr-olds who get into Harvard? I'm not. They usually don't get farther in life than the average Harvard grad.
