Pathetic:causing or evoking pity, sympathetic sadness, sorrow, etc.
Usually when ever I see someone running it makes me feel good. I am happy for them.
Once in awhile I see the signs of an obsession that has become unhealthy.

Running has been a very positive part of my life. Usually I start running alot when other parts of my life are not going so well. The running is less of an escape and more of a source of strength to get me through the tough times.

True. But why would so many people miscomprehend the posited question. I believe the topic of the value of one's dedication to running triggered certain reactions.
