balance gets worse during pregnancy.
either way, though, i could do it before i was pregnant, too.

Tried it right now... Easy to get seated on the floor and weary made it back up first try. I could feel an old meniscus injury in my right knee. It was a little rickety but leg strength an balance were on point.
Tried it and timed it - less than 4 seconds from standing to sitting with feet in front of me to standing. I have trouble believing any fit person under 40 couldn't do this in under 6 seconds.
A better predictor of longevity is a combo of aerobic fitness test, vo2max, resting heart rate. So if you stay in good aerobic fitness, that test probably means litte. There is more data behind the tests/measurements I mention.
I think it's actually an intelligence test, not a fitness test. It's easy for most people, I suspect, to cross their legs and drop themselves fairly rapidly onto their butt without using a hand for support.
I found it difficult to contemplate reversing that process--until I used my head. Then it occurred to me that I could simply give up a point, reach back with my hand, and give myself a little stabilizing boost. Bingo! Easily back onto my feet.
9 points. I will live.
Try it. The test is bogus as a measure of fitness, but a great test of whether you're willing to give away a point to get back your life.
Let's put it another way, dead people fail the test 100% of the time.

Oh yeah? Well I did it 5 times in 4 seconds. Guess I'll live forever.

So, even if i'm very healthy person, the test wasn't very good for me.
Is this test for real? or is the biggest fraud of all predictors of mortality risk in elders?
The test is bunk. You could be very healthy but have a knee problem that won't allow you to perform the stupid test. It may have some value, but overall, it's another of the endless streams of crap being tossed people to give them something to worry about. Like telling us that jobs that involve sitting will kill you. Sure, inactivity will kill you. What they're really doing in that case is setting people up for a life of menial fast food service jobs, convincing them it's better than brainwork. LOL
I read about this test a while back but it sounded like it was for older people. Anyone under say 50yr even with a knee injury would be able to do it without using more than say a hand going down and a hand going up.. That would give you a score of 8 out of 10 which is in the top category. It obviously gets more difficult as you get older.
A better test for someone younger than say 40yr would be to lay down on the ground and roll back onto your shoulders and spring up to your feet like they do in the ninja movies.
As a scam, on par with balance bracelets, 64 ounces of water a day, and core work.
