Classic!
You should put the first name in these threads though... I thought this would be Scotty MacPherson -

Well done -
She puts the "high" in the high jump!

Good one.
On a serious note, it sounds like it wasn't an intentional 'in-competition' use...
"After a thorough review of the case, USADA determined a twenty-one month sanction was appropriate upon concluding that the athlete did not intend to impermissibly enhance her athletic performance through the use of a prohibited stimulant."
Should 'recreational' life issues, be sanctioned like that, especially when performance-enhancing cheaters are getting off for a year? Sounds to me like she needs help. -
Cocaine is considered to be a performance enhancing drug? I know it's a stimulant, but the type of high it gives you is more of a jittery buzz than a focused, useful energy. Unless they make speed talking a track event, I can't imagine competing while on coke.

Either that, or she and Sotomayor know something that we don't.... -
If you want to get down, down on the ground, ... that's not good for a high jumper.

Its really not her fault. Jon Drummond hand printed a "C" on the bindle and gave it to her. He told her it was from all natural sources and that there was nothing to worry about. How was she supposed to know what it was ?

Oh, man wrote:

Which means she didn't enhance her athletic performance at all, as cocaine is way too short-lived to be a useful PED except during the event. This is anti-doping's true roots, they started out as drug prohibition morality police first. The stuff about fair competition came later.
If you read their rationale for banning xenon gas, you'll find they admit there's no evidence it's a PED. They simply allege that it's dangerous on the grounds that it's a gas and some other gases are dangerous. -

Just another tattooed tool whose thinks they're cool, edgy and out there. Well, she's certainly out there. -

Was this some type of "pop drug test"? I thought that cocaine was only in your system for like 48 hours. How much notice do athletes get for these tests? McPherson sounds/looks like a real dumb s*it. -
This sort of thing only deserves six months. Some people do cocaine. I hate to take the side of Chris Barnicle but it's not creating a great competitive advantage.

You've never done coke, right? -

Sad to say I used to do A LOT of coke
No way in hell does it help running and jumping performance -
This test was conducted at US Nationals in Sacramento. Thus the excuse of the shot putters chalk. lol. Done as a random test she would have only gotten a warning I believe.

I don't endorse drug use, but recreational drugs should not be tested for athletics.
And for game of skill like tennis, I don't much care if they're on steroids, it isn't worth the hassle to the lives of the pros to be testing for that stuff when it 99% skill.
